hi all,

i'm starting my new build next week in a silverstone rvz02 case so limited to low profile coolers with a maximum height of 58mm.

i've looked at the noctua nhl9i and the silverstone ar06.

are there any other decent coolers that i may have missed that i should consider?

will be on a h81 mobo ;)

Are you overclocking at all? My wifes rig has a 6600K at stock with a stock intel cooler on it inside an RVZ02 and it stays high 60s/low 70s in BF1 (high CPU usage) and I've not seen it go over 80c in RealBench stress test. I don't use the dust filters on it though as these are really restrictive. No dust problems after 6 months though so no big issue.

From my own research in to a new cooler it looks like the Silverstone AR06 is the best one that will fit, so if you definitely need one, this is the one to go for.

due to the restriction of not having intake or outtake fans I won't be overclocking it much if at all. will be using a 4670k with it

Just bought a Dark Rock LP for my 6850K while my watercooler is being sent off for RMA.

Currently have the CPU at full tilt Folding and the temp is sitting at 67C. My case isn't great for airflow so I'm seriously impressed!

dark rock lp is too big for the rvz02 otherwise it would have made my list

i have just come accross someone who used this in one on a reddit post. anyone have any experience in this?

The Big Shuriken 2 is a great cooler, and yes it is 58mm with fan so will fit .. but where is the fan supposed to get it's airflow from when the case is right up against it? OP would have to mod case panel so the area over fan was a vent the same size as fan .. and that is assuming the Big Shuriken will fit on his motherboard.

that was a link to the shuriken 2 i was just trying to add. looking at the post on reddit it seems to work. the vents are on the side panel right against the cooler so no modification would be required

That shows it without case cover installed. Do you have one of it with cover on the case?
There are a couple of possible problems here;
1/ The case vent hole matches but the fan is so close to the vent it makes noise.
2/ The case vent hole does not match the fan and the close proximity of fan to case makes noise.

Fans almost always run quieter if there is 5-10mm between fan and grill or cooler fins. The outlet side of fan is that 5mm because of fan housing to fan motor frame adds that 5mm clearance on that side of fan. Front side of fan is flush with housing. Most all twin tower coolers have 5-10mm more space than fan thickness for this reason. Noctua supply spacer pads for mounting a fan on back of their NH-D14, D15 and U14S cooler .. maybe others to.
