Shooting incident at Louvre in Paris

I certainly always considered it a knife but that is probably because thats what my Filipino relatives call it. I think when you hear about a machete here, its always as a weapon, where in most countries they are mainly used in a context as a tool for stuff.

Regardless, as you say, the word machete is used several times...

Real question is, is this a machete or is it a knife?:

That's an axe...

Leftist sites trying so hard to turn a machete in to a knife.

But well done to the solder that killed it.

1. knife, machete? who cares? some sites report he had two briefcases, others two rucksacks. i have seen several sites saying he was dual wielding machetes.

2. he hasnt killed the guy and nice empathy on calling him "it". You have no feelings?

Its just post 14 suggested that the incident occurred because he wasn't allowed entry due to too much luggage. :D

well you can only go on the early reports. Man carrying two rucksacks and a suitcase was refused entry so he drew a machete and attacked the guard.

Implies he was stopped because of the luggage? Or perhaps I should take it to mean that he was stopped because of his skin colour?

OK, having done a bit of research I have concluded that:

- a knife is any tool with a cutting edge;
- therefore a a machete would count as a knife;
- a dagger is a knife with a very sharp point designed or capable of being used as a thrusting or stabbing weapon, which is what I was thinking of when I asked the question.

Hope that clears it up for everyone.

And he happened to be carrying a machete a the time?? Hmmm

Oh I am not saying he wasnt up to no good or he wasnt a bad person as clearly normal people dont carry machettes.

Just saying that the news reports doesnt say he was an machete carrying man who then attacked the soldier. He clearly only drew his weapon because he was refused entry.

No we couldn't care less that they shot a parasite attempting to kill a Soldier and possibly mutilate or behead innocent civilians enjoying a day in the Louvré. You are absolutely ridiculous.

Except that a knife typically has one sharpened edge, a dagger has two.

Are you implying that being refused entry was a valid reason to draw the weapon?

No member of the public should be carrying weapons - such as knives or guns - that allows them to harm others. Full stop.

Man how do you come up with this stuff, you're almost defending the guy as if he's been wrongly done by having his luggage checked when there have been numerous mass terrorist attacks in Paris. He obviously was planning to attack people in the Louvré with the machete and fortunately they checked him before hand. He quite obviously didn't lose his crap and shout "Alluhu Akhbar" over his bags being checked LOL

Not defending anything. Just saying its weird to have two rucksacks and a suitcase. Slows you down a bit for the fighting and beheading, you know.,

I can think of a better 4 letter word also ending in 't' for him :D

Just pointing out facts that knife/machette is irrelvant and ignores the issue of what happened here.

Totally agree with him been shot btw and glad the guard was just minorly injured. Good prompt action by him

No idea why you are getting so upset at me though. :confused:

I think it was more your criticism that he shouldnt call the alleged terrorist 'it'
