Installing a new MSI 1070 Gamxing X tomorrow - I've hit this before with cards and motherboards and the like, where some software is a must and other stuff just pointless.

From what I can see of the available software:-
  • MSI Afterburner: I actually use Rainmeter to show details currenty from MSI Afterburner albeit an older version, so I'll update this to the latest version.
  • MSI Live Update 6: These things normally seem pointless? So ignore this?
  • MSI Gaming APP: This seems a given if only to set the desired standard speed and set the RGB lighting colour?

Anything else?

And as regards the NVidia drivers? Just download them from NVidia, and anything to ensure is/isn't installed? (Not installed NVidia drivers in something approaching a decade :))

Note: There's also the issue of if the BIOS needs updating, which I'll look into via MSI directly,

Your Mobo BIOS should be fine. Don't install anything other than MSI AB (and the rivatuner statistics that come with AB) and just enjoy. I did a vid on AB if that helps and how to OC a 1080/70

Any probs, ask away :)

Edit:

And install the latest NVidia drivers from their website. Your choice if you want to install things like Gefore Experience for optimising gams and on the fly recording or 3DVision.

Thanks...

And you agree "MSI Live Update 6" is not really worthwhile?

So if I want to use NVidia DVR (Shadowplay?) that's all part of "Gefore Experience"? In which case I would want to install that!

ps: As regards overclocking, I'll just run it at stock speeds for the moment. Can't see it need overclocking as I'm only running at 1920x1200, and may possibly increase that to WQHD 2560x1440 in the future.
