Ah, I can help you out with that my man, it's important to know the lingo when talking to bouffant professionals, lest you end up looking like Billy Ray Cyrus. The technique of which you speak is called "manscaping". Here's what you do chap, you walk in there, up to the nice gal with the scissors, flash her a winning smile and say this word for word:

"Hello there, my names sajtion and I wonder if you can help me out. I am in desperate need of a spot of emergency manscaping, I want to look good for the ladies but my bush is an absolute disaster area, honestly, everytime I catch a glimpse of it it's like somebody's set of a land mine in a privet hedge warehouse. It's so thick and out of control that I wouldn't be surprised if there's something living in there! The thought of that makes me pretty crabby I can tell you. Anyway, can you help me out?"

Don't be perturbed if she starts to back away, hairdressers are naturally skittish creatures.

OP I think most people here get their mums to cut their hair so I doubt you'll get a sensible answer.
