Second hand GPU prices

thats very good sale , someone on gumtree selling one for £80 lol

The guy that bought them later messaged me to say they were working perfectly well in his mining rig! So I guess that's bumping prices up as they still have a good use even when a few years old.

There are bargains to be had, ok I'm going back few years but shortly after the AMD 7xxx series came out I bought a HIS 6950 to crossfire with my existing one for £70. An absolute bargain and the FPS gains in BF3 were brilliant. Also, just last year I missed out on a i7 5820k that went for £150!

If your lucky, you will get a bargain

Used cpus are worse. 3770k are nearly as much as they were when new :P

I thought second hand 3770K cost less than £100 after 5 years but after read your post, I checked sold listings and cant believed my eye you are right.

People bidded average £200 for a second hand Ivy Bridge 3770K CPU!

It around the same value of second hand Haswell 4770K CPUs. 3770K CPU prices was worth more than Sandy Bridge 2600K CPU 's average £120 price.

I probably will get around £300 if I sell my 3770K CPU, 16GB DDR3 memory and ASUS P8Z77V motherboard.

Glad I I picked Intel with Ivy Bridge 3770K after read poor AMD FX 8150 games peformance, 3770K still run games maxed out 5 years on. Was read AMD FX 8150 sold listings saw people bidded FX 8150 CPU for less than £70 average price.

I sell on ebay - i list items up and put in the description i want cash on collection only - you can then cancel the item and not pay fees. I always get people contacting me telling me they'll offer x price because "thats what they go for on ... other site" and I always turn them down. Eventually you get the price you want.

I never sell items by post anymore as there are too many scammers and ebay dont protect sellers in any way.

You do have to be VERY exact in description on eBay for them to back you. i think people look for anything not in a description. Like anything there will be a group of people that will look into any system and work out how to abuse it.

The main problem with selling electronics is sending stuff. Unless you pay for top whack proper courier like DHL or UPS then the cheaper couriers hardly insure anything. Look at my hermes list of what is not insurable. many of the cheaper ones don't cover electronics.

I have used AVForums before for buying & selling components. Works on trust score like members markets. I always mark my components/items in a very inconspicuous way and note the serial numbers as some will ask for a return and send an identical non working component.

Keeping note of serials numbers is a must for me. I make sure I have an actual picture on the item so people can't dispute it's the right item.

The only thing I don't like about the second hand market is people will happily sell you a card they know has issues or know is on it's way out.

Or just plain lie about it's history saying not used for mining when it was etc.

Theres some guy on there now flogging 7 MSI RX480 Gaming X 8gb , for £189 each , doesnt say what he was doing with 7.
Thats not a bad saving of £70 for a second hand gpu thats probably only a few months old.

wasn't there a guy on these forums asking for a method of connecting 7 rx 480's to a motherboard not long ago?

^^^ 5 is easy, 6 doable but by 7 you've usually run out of PCI-E slots or power connectors :)

Biostar just recently released a motherboard with 6 PCI-E (4x) slots marketed for mining but I digress.

That's why I generally prefer only to buy new so at least if something isn't right you have a warranty to fall back on.
