Anyone had any experience of these? Specifically looking at the shallower variety for a sliding door unit say 150w x 201h x 44d for a small bedroom.

Just wondering about general rebustness, and also if the shallower unit is actually practical and deep enough for hanging clothes on rails and drawer depth etc?

I'm slightly confused as it appears the actual cupboard is just 35cm deep? Surely the sliding doors don't add on 9cm?

Ive had some of the double wardrobes when I lived in a flat about 6 years ago and in fact one of them is still stood surviving to this day in the spare bedroom at our house.

Can't say much for the sliding door version but the double door ones we had were very solid. Some people have even used these as the barebones to fitted wardrobes and have fixed them in place and plastered around them. Look pretty good.

The mirror doors you get for them are bloody heavy too.

Looks like the 35mm units hang front to back on pull out rails so hanging space shouldn't be an issue. The sliding doors are fairly deep, much deeper than I was expecting but they are strong enough to hold glass panels securely. Personally I'd go for hinged doors if I was to choose again because you can only access half the wardrobe at a time with the sliding doors. Very happy with the build quality of the units.

They hang front to back? eg: with your shirts facing you rather than side on? That sounds odd? Never saw that on their site!? Would seem a less efficient use of space doing it that way around? Guess it comes down to if a traditional rail in a 35cm deep unit would give enough room?

Unless the doors are 270 degree opening doors (which I doubt) that's not an option really as they're opening into restricted space at the end of the bed. ie: If they only opened 90 degrees you'd get trapped :)

Pretty impressed with ours. Just to warn you that once assembled they don't take kindly to re-assembly. We had our bedroom re-decorated and while they're still functional they're not quite the same as when first put together. Otherwise for the price they're fantastic.

35cm deep or 58 deep?

Just got a feeling the front facing hanging in the shallow version will be to limited...

I had the sliding door Pax before moving, assuming it's the 2x door unit that slide above/below each other the doors were ~10cm deep. I found them to be well built though, ran smoothly and never felt like they were going to fall apart.
No experience of that depth though, I had the space for a full depth + doors.

I bought 2 for the house I rent out, they're functional and are solid enough for the money. Ours are very tall and probably not the most stable things in the world, but they do their job well.

~10cm sounds about right! So the two doors could pass completely over each other? So you could roll them both to opposite ends?

The 35cm cupboard carcase ends up being about 44cm in total with sliding doors... So 9cm seems to be their depth...

Yeah. I had 2x 75cm units with 75cm doors. You could slide both doors to the left or both doors to the right - depending on what side you want to get into.

One thing to be aware of is that the "outer" door is covered on the outside edge. So you can't move the left door to the right and vice versa at the same time. If that makes sense!

Quoted for truth. Our neighbours got an ikea double wardrobe, built it in the livingroom, didn't fit through the doors, took it apart and it was just never the same. (door eventually fell off, shelf fell out etc)

Out of interest:-
1) What are the backs like? Flimsly thin board, of fairly robust?
2) What the draws like? Fairly robust or can you push the bottoms out easily etc?

Oh wow, ours aren't that bad!

It was down to some plastic (what looked like) wall plugs that came with it instead of screws, they hard little barbs on so taking them out basically ripped of the front 'panel' of whatever/lino wood effect plasticyness. It was a horrible mess and obviously nothing fit together properly again.

I did say "you should build it in the bedroom" but pfft! (It actually looked and functioned REALLLLY nicely (sliding doors, smooth drawers etc).. in the living room

That's what I'd be going for 150CM with two sliding doors.

So you can slide each door across to the other side... but the two doors cannot cross over each other? So you could put them both in the middle for example, but they couldn't pass each other?

Backs are flimsy board stuff, but I've never found this to be an issue. Drawers are fine though, still using one part of the wardrobe in my lounge without the doors and have one them rammed full of cds/dvds with no issues despite being a fair bit of weight. Sliding mechanism is all good too.

Yep - that's it. :)

moved house once with our set i bought used, we had a 2meter wide job with sliding doors.

The main chipboard doesnt like being used twice as mentioned above, however i managed to get it to stay up with some longer screws, that said the main frames etc are not the expensive from ikea if i did have to replace.

Very versitile and handy wardrobes their options are awesome

I've got the 2m wide ones with glass sliding doors...

Quite solid so far, about 6 months old. Putting it together was a bit of an issue, however.
Not quite sure how it would work if I was to take it back down, however... I do like ability to add stuff to it though, might do something with drawers at some point.

Hmmm... Need to double check but I don't think they do drawers for the 75w x 35d version(s)...

In the US they appear to... But can't see them in the UK :(

EDIT: On the onlien planner they appear to be there :)
