One of 2 things (probably combined) - they went last year in March, almost exactly the same time of year (so close to 10k miles ago), I think it's the amount of crap and **** on the roads that has got under the dust seals and worked it's way into the oil seals, when I popped off the dust seal it wasn't brilliantly clean under there. That and there's a dodgy road repair on my route into work on a dual carriageway which I stand up for as at 70mph it would have me out the seat...

Mostly though, it's the crap on the roads. I bought decent seals (All Balls racing) too.

Before next winter I'll fit some neoprene fork protectors, whether on the cb400 or a transalp.

Did you try to clean the seal ? 35mm neg or similar.

Yay! Fairings have been completed and posted!

Now I just have the joy of putting it back together and hoping nothing else is knackered. Hoping my wrist will be usable by next weekend so I can start work on it. Will be interesting doing this without a garage

If I can be back on the road by end of March I'll be a happy rider:D

Though I'm definitely going fully comp when I renew next month

Some cheap kit can be good, e.g. Crash helmets with 5 star SHARP rating, they can be found under £100.

Jeans? Not so sure, judging by some reviews done by reputable sources I'd say no.

Sportsbikeshop do Bull-it Covec SR6 for £97 and they get a v good write up. Unless you know of someone who has unfortunate enough to have had a spill in those jeans listed on eBay or can find a good review on them to be giving a good recommendation I'd be giving them a miss.

Ahhh damn. Was hoping I could do a semi protective full kit purchase with the following for £100 for both.

Personally I wouldn't touch any lined jeans that don't have a full waist to ankle liner. It's far too easy for the small patches used in a lot of them to shift and leave you bare skinned.

Went out for the first ride of the season as it was 11 degrees and sunny.

The roads are still cold and the gym is ten times further away than I remember but it was great to be back on the bike.
