The dangers of naming pets

I don't think there is any danger in naming pets. My cat name was Meeka, but it does not mean that this name effect on her behavior. My Boyfriend has a dog and his name is AK, no seriously! but it does not mean that he shoot my boyfriend with AK-47..Lol
I think it is extremely funny and just a saying not truth.

Thank you for your insight.

ahh yes, another darwin award winner there.

safety on, always, until you're about to shoot something, and if you're gonna lay the gun down unload it, it's simples. hell even just breaking the action open would be enough.

reminds me of a tale a freind of mine told me about a fella was out hunting, came to a hedge, rested his shotgun against it, climbed over then grabbed the barrel and pulled the gun over. needless to say he also didn't have the safety catch on, and neither did he survive.

edit, and another darwin award to me for not noticing the date :p

Very easy to overlook things with gun safety, I've a fairly decent process for paying attention to what I'm pointing at normally but came to my attention the other day I wasn't as rigorous when the muzzle was pointing at the ground as other cases - bit of a blind spot in my thinking that could have resulted in me shooting myself in the foot or something (usually pretty careful not to just dangle pointing at myself or someone else's lower body but my thinking process wasn't as developed as when pointing the gun up).

Did you have the safety on?

Guess it depends on familiarity, if you dont shoot regularly makes it a lot easier to home in on the basics, like the opposite of forgetting if you've locked your car or not

Doesn't matter if the safety was on or not - should always treat a firearm as if its loaded and ready to shoot - even if you've removed the magazine and/or cleared it yourself.

Was just interesting to discover that though I had a fairly cognisant process for what I was doing when pointing a weapon around subconsciously I was reducing how much I was thinking it through when the muzzle was pointing downwards - its too easy to think oh its pointing at the ground its safe without considering what its actually pointing at downwards.

On the other hand, there is always comedy value in hearing a pet owner yelling their embarressing name late at night.

We named our cat "Take Me". I often hear the neighbours chortling through the wall whilst my wife stands in the doorway repeatedly calling him to come in at night.

Health and safety have suggested that gun triggers should be replaced with 10 digit access panels as a result of this incident.

A chap local to me has a Rottweiler called "The slang word for a child of unmarried parents" - censor won't let me say but it starts with B and ends with D - always makes me laugh when I hear him call the dog! :D

A bloke who lives a few door down the road from a mate of mine has a Red Setter named 'Nonce', when asked why he said it's because he's good with children. :D
