Here we go! (Jaguar/Shell fuel app)

It should really be possible to uniquely and securely ID a car and use that as a payment token - you get into your car, 'sign in' and that opens the car up as a payment method, go into a forecourt and the car and pump handshake authorizing the pump.

I should work at tesla ;)

After the HP printer cartridge debacle, I suspect I am not paranoid enough.

I can certainly see a scheme coming in where Shell (Say) creates a scheme where the initial purchase cost is subsided in exchange for more expensive fuel.

And people will go for it too! (Like the driving app/tracker insurance thing, which fills me with horror)

As ever, something that starts out as an option will rapidly become the norm that people will have little or no option to opt out of.

Never going to happen, it'd be a complete failure.

Just had to try this myself and worked first time ha. Are you northern per chance? :p

Nope, southern lad with a very generic english accent.

Its just that its not a band that i imagine crops up on voice searches that much so it gets confused, because other bands with equally confusing names (for a computer at least) dont have issues.

I'll admit it sounds useful, but theres so much in the way of the connected world to sort out (like telling apple to wise up and use normal bluetooth, why i cant get my alarm to not go off when i'm driving and why google voice control cant tell the difference between "sonata arctica" and "some other arctic" no matter how much "talking to a computer" voice you employ) i dont feel this is top of the list

Edit, also after the number of typing errors it'd be nice to have a touchscreen keyboard with tactile buttons, or dictating software that worked

Thought this was just me that had the issue, try getting it to play Unia, completely impossible.

Don't see the point in adding more apps to a car, too many people get too easily distracted by the cd player

it's not just you, sadly i've not yet figured out any other solution than just to select it manually. wish google would have a "type in what you actually asked for" option so it'd learn.

could be the in car mic isn't helping, a lot of folks complain about call quality when they ring and i'm driving, they should be grateful i went to the effort of obtaining hands free.
