Happens every year at the start of the season, all the summer weekend warriors get their sportbikes out and still think they can ride like they were doing at the end of last summer, stupid overtakes/stupid speeds/etc.

You can be smooth at xxx speeds too, its not easy and deffinately not a skill that a fair weather rider will have. But I've followed a few people and only realised how fast we were going by looking at the speedo since the ride was soo smooth. No unnecessary braking or gear changes.

I do know what you mean though, all of the sudden bikes wait in the traffic like cars, whilst there's plenty of space to filter through. Shiny new gear and bikes that look like they just came out from a showroom. :p

Can anyone recommend some textile jeans that are:
  • 33" inside leg
  • Can go over my jeans
  • Waterproof
  • Removable thermal liner
  • Touring style? Maybe. I'm looking for something that'll easily go over my jeans and not be tight and uncomfortable like my RST Ventilator pants - it looks like touring would be way better in terms of that.
  • Full length zip compatible with RST jacket
  • Around £150-175 maybe £200 or so
I like this style - fairly plain and straight: https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/255252 but the length is 31".

These are also nice, but again they're a bit too short: https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/190299

Thanks

How tall are you? I would say furygan Duke but they probably won't zip to RST stuff.

I'm 6'1 and normally wear 32" jeans day-to-day so figure 33 would be perfect on the bike. My 32" Hoods are pretty good but not perfect and my current RST Ventilators are too short.

Maybe I need to get something without the full zip. Would be a shame, but it's limiting my choice a fair bit :(

It's 30" long (the zip on jacket)

Those Furygan Dukes look nice, just need to figure out if they'll zip together

Yeah they do, You could probably sew it to the existing zip fabric on your jacket... they have a 330 degree zip, the front maybe 4 inches are left unzipped. They do let in a little water but only after 45+ minutes of torrential rain, and on my naked bike which has zero rain protection. All non goretex trousers will do that though, they're still very waterproof.

Long shot but SV people, does anyone have a spare rear caliper joining seal? I have piston seals but didn't realise I bought the wrong kit and now I have the caliper in two... rather not have to spend another £15 on a full kit.

Nope, I cancelled my order for the seals kit, when I saw it has been rebuilt recently...

BTW 10% off DemonTweeks code: EBAYMC17

Lovely blat to On Yer Bike this morning/afternoon. Not particularly sunny, a few specs of rain even, but great fun. First time using my Sena 20S for voice comms. Great fun!

Seen a few decent priced MT09's .... But they tend to be hanging orange! Is it easy enough to take off the fuel tank? I have a mate who has a wrapping business. Might give him a call for a price!

Took all my tools out along with the bike, I borrowed a rivetting tool. But you can't break the chain with it, so after 5 minutes of Google searching and finding that out. I packed everything up and went back home... I hope it comes tomorrow morning, although its RM so...

Lesson learnt...

Edit

What summer jackets would you all recommend? I'm thinking of getting something like this, this has some kind of abrasion protection but is fully vented. Last summer I was sweating...

I think I'm going to hold off buying a bike, maybe until April/May time, I'm going to be doing some extensive training over the next 12 weeks which will include a lot of travelling and carrying documents and folders so I'll be using the car. Buy one in April just as the weather gets warmer.
