Murderer claims rights are being violated after ‘home-made sex change’ in prison

I've seen and been in some grim self harm incidents but cutting ones own nads off is a step too far.

Either way "ouch" and "lolz" apply in equal measure.

Never had that issue when the penalty for murder was three clear Sundays then a 9am appointment with Mr Pierrepoint. (Or Mr Allen/Mr Wade).

I'm sorry, but cutting off your balls does not mean that you're suddenly a woman.

It's just getting ridiculous.

He identifies as one that's all it seems to require these days, probably hoping to get put in a womens prison for 24/7 heterosexual sex sounds like a plan to me.

Clearly a very troubled individual. It would be better for all to send her to Broadmoor as It appears she is too ill to be in a standard prison environment.

Prisoners are usually assigned based on the legal gender classification. Due to the complexity of these cases, each case tends to be looked at individually and the inmate moved to either a wing or area of the prison for the vulnerable/dangerous to be isolated from other prisoners and to undergo closer surveillance or in special cases, moved to an alternative prison.

Moving to a female prison is not possible based on what you identify with, the decision is based on the safety of the inmates on a case by case basis and very rarely happens. Regardless of what this inmate identifies with or their orientation is, they would be considered unsafe as well as be unsafe in a female prison.

The inmate is claiming that rights i violated due to not having access to the same facilities as other prisoners, which is unsurprising given their isolation.

The person is a total nut-job, everything i read online about this person prior to the self mutilation, points to mental instability. This person requires significant psychiatric help and likely more than what the prison can offer. Unfortunate but true. The only solution i can think off is moving this person to a facility more catered to the mentally ill but this could put other people in danger as well as not give them access to the facilities which was refused the inmate and therefore caused the self harm.

This specific case is particularly interesting because though the wing designed to house vulnerable prisoners has facilities the inmate wants, it also house the prison population they are a danger to (paedos and such) but unfortunately the normal part of the prison is a danger to them due to how they present themselves and confront those who dont accept the inmates identification.

The situation very much reminds me of the riddle with the Grain, Goat and a wolf required to cross a river, except this issue is made worse that leaving any combination of prisoners (the inmate, general prisoners and vulnerable prisoners) in the same place will likely put those parties in danger.

I have a tear in my eye when I catch my saddle bags with the razor, can't imagine what the pain would be like hacking them off.

She's lucky she didn't bleed out and die. This act of self harm is quite extreme and points to a serious mental health problem. As I said in an earlier post, her needs would be best catered for in a place like Broadmoor.

He cut his balls off, that doesn't make him a she, it just makes him a bloke with no balls.

While i would normally agree with sending them to a place like broadmoor, that would still fail to grant the facilities that the prisoner is requesting and is claiming refusal is breaching their rights. Further more, they will likely take it as as snub and treat their moving to a mental facility a result of their identification, which would also cause issues.

Anything goes in pretend land.

You are in pretend land as usual.

This is taken from the article in the OP's opening post:

A Hastings murderer claims her rights as a transgender woman are being violated after performing a home-made sex change operation in prison.

Jesus, learn to read before you embarrass yourself spiffle.

DNA test, X or Y chromosome can determine the sex.

Indeed. But transgender people or transsexual people like to be referred to as the gender which they identify with. I am currently working with a transsexual named Jennifer. Jenifer was born male but self identifies as female so I always refer to her as her or she etc.

I get why someone who identifies as someone else may be annoyed by being labelled something they dont like. I never understood why someone else would be so petty to fervently deny calling them whatever they want if it costs nothing.

Personally, i dont think there is a need to get so hung up about labels like that, as long as there is no intent to offend or infer, then whats the issue, call that person byw hat they prefer and if someone genuinely gets it wrong, shrug it off. I dont go mental when i meet people who accidentally pronounce my name wrong and neither do i make a point of purposely pronouncing the names like Benoit or Francois incorrectly because they do not suit my the phonetics assigned to my native alphabet.
