If a TTRS is dull then I wonder how dull a Toyota, Honda or Nissan is?

Also I find the Mk3 a lot nicer to drive then the Mk2. Homer, I'd definitely try one out but even I think the new RS is way too expensive to buy new.
 
Anyone got a A3 8V with the firmer S-Line suspension?
We just picked up an A3 but it has the standard softer suspension and finding it a bit soft and wallowy ! Mixed reports as to whether it's to firm, I'm considering fitting the S-Line springs and dampers etc.
 
Not got one, but have driven one.

After driving one I specced up an A3 (before changing the order to S3), and I included the S Line suspension because, like you, I found the "Sport" suspension a bit wallowy and imprecise.

Obviously have mag-ride now, but even with that on hardest it's not particularly crashy compared to some cars I've driven.
 
I've always found the S-Line suspension pretty nasty as a passenger. Has a much firmer ride and handles better when your driving but anyone else in the car feels as if they're hitting every hole in the ground... Our S4 has I believe the same S-Line suspension setup and its meh when I'm not driving it.
 
Well I was the only bidder, so won the complete S Line suspension set up the chap has taken off his 1000 mile A3 as he found it to firm... cost 100 pounds !!!!! Fitting has been estimated by local independent Audi specialist as around 330 + vat. The chap spent nearly 2k reversing his choice, so I'm doing well so far.

He's right though. My dad used to have a TTrs and while it was a nice car and quick, somehow it managed to be just a bit dull.

...And Toyota, Honda and Nissan sports cars are a LOT of fun. Because they tend to be RWD and have a great feel to them :D

Depends what you want out of a car, Clarkey for example believes he lives in some sort of Japensese drift movie, others value the ability to quickly cover cross country distances in UK weather and nice interiors.
 
This might be a stupid thing to state, but having bought an A4 3 and a bit years ago, it would appear to me that Audi have upped all their prices considerably in that time, whereas BMW and Merc seem to be somewhat more stable.
Entry level types and various other shades of models when going from 3 series to C series to A4 suggest Audi being 10% more expensive, and their finance options are properly sloppy at the moment too.

Merc want 300 a month with 4k down, similar level BMW want 325 a month with 4.5K down, and Audi seem to want 5.5 down and 335 a month.
Are merc about to change model on the C class?
Is this the way it always was and I just didn't see it before?
Is it VW group stacking up against potential claims, or attempting to reclaim money they have to pay American's due to lying?
 
What I noticed having just shopped around and got my wife's A3 is how poor Audi VFM is, so mean features you take for granted on other brands are not included. We bought an S Line, but unless the original buyer ticked lots of boxes it would have little on it. Example our mirrors won't fold, we have optional better full leather seats.... but not heated!!! (Had it fitted as after market mod at dealer)...
I spec'd an A3 to see what I could get compared to the Focus RS price I was ordering.... all I could get with same spec was 2.0 TFS 180 ps S Line and was a few grand more... not even an S3 let alone an RS3.... I spec'd our A3 on the webpage we just picked up, came to 39k :o ... it's a diesel S Line... 5k more than my RS...... my Volvo V40 was fully loaded, far better spec than the A3, far better handling and feedback, superb car, 35k when new.

You don't pay list price for cars generally, people are not paying £40k for diesel A3 S-Lines.

That's not the point, I was making an "apples for apples" comparison, for sure you'll haggle a better price on the A3, same as you would on the V40 etc Sadly not on the Focus RS as they are list price only or possibly more if you want to jump the queue and get one already delivered.
 
Mine kicked up a "transmission malfunction" error message tonight whilst shifting from 2nd to 3rd (1500 miles 4 months old). Was literally in the middle of nowhere, car switched itself from Sport to Manual and locked me into 2nd (couldn't manually shift up or down, neither would it auto-shift).

Limped to a lay-by and turned the ignition off and on, message gone, car seems ok.

Obviously I'll take it to Audi asap, but anyone got and insight? There was an almighty clunk when the error came up (and I was under some pretty hard acceleration).
