this is one of those Kodak moments ...
you bought a gtx 1080 for 1080p and complain about nvidia milking you? You could have bought a great 1440p screen for that money and could have powered it with a gtx 970 or 980TI.
Of course you do what you want, it's your money but ...![]()
Makes me laugh when people say any GPU is overkill. There's no such thing!!!
Some games out there flat out challenge a 1080 at 1080p never mind games around the corner or in a year or so.
The only overkill thing could be the Vram but even then I'd rather have it and the GPU power to use it all.
If all I played was CS:Go then yes totally unnecessary, if I play many games then no, even a Titan XP isn't overkill.
Some people would take a 30% increase over a 1080 for £250 more though, especially at 4K.Rumoured £800+ for a mere 30% performance increase and then only if you're lucky?! I'll pass thanks all the same.

Many sold the 980ti for £300 (give or take) then spent £600 to £800 on a 1080, for 20% improvement, so that's not out of the question really, we have not seen any big jumps for years.
Honestly, it just doesn't matter, i'm not going to judge how someone else spends their money (far too much of that on these forums tbh) and it's not relevant if they see as as value for money either (this often goes out the window when it comes to new and shiny). If you want the latest, you will pay a premium for it. Thats not a dig at anyone btw!
