Predator 360

Another 360 gone bang.
Few funny noises coming out of it the last day or say and figured it was just some bubbles in the circuit working through. Had a better look last night after switching the fans up a bit, and the noise came more pronounced and droplets became visible where the fitting attaches to the pump side. Some drops had collected down the bottom of the chassis as well from when the pump ramped up. Didn't notice any difference in cooling or temps (360 is running the CPU and Titan X block) over the last couple days.
Like the OP (though I cannot see the video anymore so cannot say it's the exact same), I was just blessed it was front-mounted (can't stand front-mounting normally, but I'm stuck with it due to the DG-87) - if it had of being top-mounted, there would have been a good chance of damage to other components.
Fortunately, I had a 240 model free, so that's after being switched into the system, though it does make hard work of keeping the temps down in comparison to it's big brother. Will be right onto EK about the 360 to see what can be done as it was only bought back in September.
Rather worryingly, I'm not sure it's as simple as a small leak from a dodgy Oring etc, as there's almost what looks like a small fracture around the just between the fitting and the pump.

So these are not end of life already??? How comes? Due to design issues as so many people have problems with them?
They need to come out with a similar new product that is more reliable that has at least 5 years warranty. Maybe improve aesthetics also.

Who knows, but there are clearly issues with them, and I've seen reports of leaks on numerous forums from people all over. I wouldn't touch one now personally... for this kind of money it's totally unacceptable, and you're far better off going custom, which will see better performance and certainly better reliability if done correctly. Yes it costs more, but you get that much more. The cost argument for a custom loop vs air isn't a very defendable one, but vs a Predator it is much more arguable.
Anyone concerned about putting liquid anywhere near their system should just go air though... top end air coolers are just as good as any AIO. The Predator has always stood above the rest, but clearly it's not worth the risk. It will be interesting to see how the new models perform when they come out later this year, but reliability will still be a question mark.

I never went for it in the past due to the poor warranty. Now it is obvious why they won't go 5 years or more warranty, as the product is not reliable enough for it.
Really like what you did with your system. I may go for something similar when 7nm zen+ comes out. How often so you have to replace your coolant? What is the overall upkeep once built?
Yeah I was exactly the same, and was considering a Predator for ages but then just went custom when I realised I'd end up with something far more reliable, not to mention look better. Never was a fan of those black tubes, and the QDC versions are just ugly IMO.
Thanks. I've actually sold my Titanium build now, but you'd get a good 12 months or so, perhaps longer, before having to change coolant like the one I used (Mayhems Clear Blue UV). The Ice Dragon Nano I have in my 6700k loop at the moment they say is good for 2 years, not that I'll be going that long as I will add a GPU to the loop sometime... either 1080Ti or VEGA probably.
Coolants such as Aurora have a much shorter lifespan though, some say only a few months or so. They are more for show builds though, not really intended for long term home use.
Had my Kraken X60 for nearly 4 years now and I like how it is zero hassle, simple to install and just works. Would be happy with changing the coolant once a year I suppose if I go down the custom route

Oh, so this coolant is actually better for cooling vs others? Sorry not done anything like this in like 15 years. I remember when I did, I went on a long holiday, came back to find the liquid gone all thick and gooey. Performance messed up. I just chucked it away and went back to air. It did look good though, back then hardly anyone had seen anything like it. lol
I'd take the claims with a pinch of salt. You'd be fine with distilled water at the end of the day, it doesn't make THAT much difference. I just wanted white, so it seemed the best option, but it's a lot of money for what it is really. Coolants have come a decent way in the past 15 years though, so I doubt you'd have a repeat experience of your last venture... unless you did something catastrophically wrong haha!
