But it's still happening and the pound is pretty much the same in value as it was right after the vote. So how does that explain the huge price changes? :)

When 10 series launched rate was 1.45-1.55, those who ordered early got the pre-brexit pricing which was only a little higher than these heavily discounted prices.

Then when 10 series came into stock prices rocketed due to the stock being paid for with a rate of 1.25-1.35.

The rate as of today is 1.22, if it was 1.45-1.55 we'd be seeing 1080's well under £450 and 1070 around £320.
 
But why are Nvidia shipping them so cheap now? It's not like they have stopped producing them or materials have got any cheaper.

Because NVIDIA can sell them at any price they wish, they are the manufacturer, for all we know they cost £100 to make, if they charge £300, £500, £1000 that is their decision and they need to make huge profits to keep bringing us new shiny things and keep growing. I for one do not care if they cost 1p to make, simple fact is they make awesome products and they keep pushing the technology further to enhance our gaming experience. They have a card at every price bracket to reach every gamer from 1050 right upto the ITS COMING. :)

OcUK is also cheaper than buying from NVIDIA now on FE cards!
1080 FE on NVIDIA is £545, OcUK is £540 !
1070 FE on NVIDIA is £395, OcUK is £360 !

Oh dear, really treading the party line with that response Gibbo. Nvidia's prices are terrible as they dominate the high end. Same as Intels CPU's (Ryzen > instant drops). Nothing to do with what they need to make its about what how much they can fleece their customers for. Their marketing department deserve a pay raise for coming up with the ridiculously overpriced Titan range to allow them convince many that their ti range is somehow 'cheap'.
 
Absolutely. Nvidia milked 1080 for all its worth, now they got 1080TI just as I predicted for around 700£ and with Vega looming it will be 550-600£ for a high end custom board once early benches leak. Now then and only then , once it reaches that magical 600£ top end mark for a decent 1080Ti I may pull the trigger.

They start at £699, confirmed by NV, a high-end custom board would not be £100 less, LOL, more likely £100 more if judging by 980Ti prices and 1080 prices where cards like Strix, G1, Gaming X, HOF are always very expensive.

Like I've said many times. Custom cooled 1080 Ti coming in at £800+

I'll wait for Volta. It should be double performance of the 1080 Ti. Just have to be patient, My 1080 is a beast already and still overkill for many.
