Hi All

Needing a travel tidy to place/organise the items i need in my boot for "just in case" scenario's - jerry can, travel pump, few car cleaning products, jump leads, litre water bottle etc.

Any suggestions? Ive seen a lot of ebay travel tidys 50cm by 15cm by 23cm...but they wont accomodate the larger items like a jerry can.

I dont want something too bulky, more to sit in the corner and keep organised and covered.

Show me your travel tidy's or suggestions

Many Thanks

Probably not what you have in mind but have you looked into the stayhold range? It is basically a selection of plastic dividers and straps that velcro to your boot floor. Best thing is that they can be configured however suits and can be stacked away completely when not in use. Half price at Halfords too at the moment.

I have a premade Weathertech thingy in my boot

however you can just buy a universal one for a few quid on ebay and trim it to fit, like so:

infinitely cheaper and after I saw it I kind of regretted shelling out extra....

I've just got a clear plastic box from Ikea, that's stuck in the corner with some bungie cords.

It's big enough to hold my window cleaner, along with a few other emergency items and such. Wouldn't hold a jerry can - frankly as long as you ensure you stay topped up, you shouldn't ever need one.

How much stuff do you guys carry?

The boot on my car has a 1litre topup of oil and thats it.

Its best to be prepared. ;)

I carry a jack, wheel brace, two barrel foot pump, emergency raincoat, high vis, two warning triangles, a tool kit including everything from sockets to a hammer, de-icer and scraper, bungee cords, jump leads, a tow rope, wheel chock, spare aux belt, quick start spray, waterproof sheet, a blanket, electrical tape, about 500ml of oil, and of course..... cable ties!

I have breakdown cover to be prepared for most of that

An RAC membership card probably weighs less.

I don't have breakdown cover. :p

I should get it... But I like to be prepared. I've helped many people out.

On the subject of the thread though, I have cubby holes in the sides of the boot luckily. But in my old car I had a canvas bag which was secured to the side of the boot with a bungee cord going through a couple of load anchors. Nice and tidy, and secure.

You lack of duct tape disturbs me.

I have various bits and bobs packed around the spare tyre. There's a high-vis jacket on the back shelf. A spade behind the back seat. Everything else goes into one of those 42L Really Useful Boxes in the boot. Except for the jump leads. They're underneath the front seat because the idiot who designed the Yeti forgot to include a manual release for the boot.
