Helium balloon material

This is a long shot, but I've been looking on Google for what feels like an eternity. Does anyone know where I can buy a roll of foil backed polythene used to make helium balloons?

This.

Helium is Vital to many current and emerging technologies.

The article misses out the Nuclear applications. He makes a supurb coolant/working fluid for high temperature gas cooled reactors (See Dragon and GT-MHR) since you cannot (For all practical purposes) make Helium radioactive via neutron capture.

Sadly, it really wouldn't surprise me at all if a significant number of senior Politicians really do not understand the true meaning of the word "Element" :confused:
 
I think a research project is exactly the type of thing helium should be used for.

I know you are joking (Well, I hope you are anyway :p )

A round trip to Jupiter's upper atmosphere would probably require a mission DeltaV of well over 200Km/S

You would be able to get some of that from aerobraking and some from mavity assist, but I am guessing that you would still need at least 100Km/S of pure rocket thrust. (You would need at least 60Km/S just to get away from Jupiter)

Its technically possible but it would be a formidable undertaking.

Sadly, in the future it might well be an undertaking that we might have to make. Helium separation and storage should be a license condition for extracting natural gas really.

(You might be able to reduce the requirement somewhat by combining the aerobraking and harvesting operation. That would actually be the best way of doing it really, you could use the Hydrogen to refuel the propellant tanks after the helium has been separated, Ooh I am getting quite keen on this project now! :D)

Elon Musk will sort it out, he'll spacex to Jupiter, pop some helium in a bit of tupperware and be back in time for tea.
 
There's always new discoveries that help alleviate the Helium shortage:

A team from Oxford and Durham Universities has made a huge discovery in Tanzania that has developed a brand new way of finding helium. Working with Norwegian firm Helium One, the scientists found a “world-class” helium gas field in Tanzania.
The gas was discovered by using the same expertise from oil and gas exploration to look into how helium was generated underground, in an attempt to understand where it would accumulate. They found that volcanic activity provides the huge amounts of heat that is needed to push the gas out of ancient, helium-bearing rocks.

He better invent some decent Tupperware first. If it's anything like my lunch he'll spill that helium all in his rucksack, damn lid popping off :p
