This, a million times this.
"Black styling packs" are downright awful on 99% of cars, especially those that are already dark painted to begin with.
Contrast is king, this is the same reason a decent set of silver alloys can make a car look "right", contrast to the car, contrast to the tyres, contrast to the arch gap.

There was a time when Chrome grills denoted the fact you could afford a 6 cylinder BMW and black grills were for the people who couldn't and had to drive 4 cylinder poverty spec cars. This no longer seems to be the case and it makes me sad.

Strongly considering changing mine to grey along with the wheels.
Pretty much the way BMW are going with everything though
New 5 series have the same twin exhaust (current 7 series style) whether you have a 520d or 540i. When I drove the 530d yesterday they had a 520d next to it and other than the badge, there is no way of telling the difference any more
It's been 7 years since you could last tell a 530 from a 520 by the exhaust, E60 was the last.

Tbh even the LCI led lights don't look too good IMO and I have heard they are not as bright as xenons

Both look fine so I'd just leave whatever you currently have fitted.
I must admit that I've never paid that much attention to the grille on these before. Now all I can see is a flared snorting nostril, or possibly a grinning face with a bindi and sunglasses.

Black is for young people, chrome is for old people.
But that particular grey car looks better in chrome.
If it were a 4 series then black grills are the superior aesthetic by a mile.

I know I thought leaving the badges on people won't even try - instead they try harder!!
