1994 BMW E34 540I/6

Update
(5/5/15)

The welding on the front of TBL had been finished, We also asked the welder to give the front suspension mountings a good inspection. While working in the area, and all was clear.

So the front was now solid.

I will leave you with pictures of the work at this moment, The TBL was looking much better

Update
(9/5/15)

we saw more progress with the TBL ... We collected the new OE passenger wing from the paintshop. We also had the spare front panel painted at the same time.

These are the rare staggered items I had not seen many for sale.

Update
(10/6/2015)

TBL's welding holiday came to a sudden end.. with the call ...Saying all was done on the welding front.

So the TBL is now solid and free from the rotten brown stuff ...
Well, The sills are now rust free .... and floor.

We were at the rust proofing stage, making sure the new metal is soaking with the stuff This will lead to behind the dash and the footwells ...behind the boot trim and anywhere else,That might even think of rusting

^ agreed, this is an interesting project, wouldnt have thought there'd be much love in the restoration world for 90's motors but methinks the future will thank the op for keeping a slice of it alive.

My dirty E30 is also getting restored slowly, and its technically a 90's car (despite being released in the early 80's) :)

I find the rot found in threads like this somewhat troubling. :p

It is, its some dedication to take that on, although tbf a good freind of mine does this sort of thing only with tractors, everyone needs a hobby.

*Wishes he had the time, space and money to do this sort of thing*

BK35093 has now been rust proofed in all the repair area's, I can now rest easy

But much still to do.

at this point we still had to clean the under body surface rust and treat it to a coat or two of Hammerite Black

We had also rerouted the sunroof drains..

No nasty salt water in the A posts

This is really is a must on sunroof models !! The rear sills have also been drilled to allow rustproofing of the rear jacking points/sills

Update
(16/6/2015)

front suspension changed over ...

routine rust solid bolts on the TBL ..We won in the end

Old units..

New units from the silver car needed a clean at the time but its all relatively new un abused hardware Bilstein B12 Pro Kit with relatively new calipers and good top mounts.

The job at that moment was to get an M.O.T Ticket, While the front suspension was out we painted the mounting points with hammerite Black. This was another good job out of the way.

BK35093 needed all the help she could get with her rust addiction, But the under body is looking much better these days.

Update
(17/6/2015)

The rear suspension was changed at this point BK35093 is sporting Bilstein B8'S on her four corners.. With stainless steel braided brake lines.

After instillation -

While the rear suspension was out we painted the rear mountings and removed some light rust from the rear arches.

You were cheating on us with another forum weren't you! :D

the brake had been fluid renewed on the BK35093, This was done, while adjusting the handbrake.

We gave the engine bay has seen TLC and looks much better already, This lead us to the fault of the non working cruise control.
The cable has snapped, So should be a fast fix.

The n/s windscreen washer was also for some reason not connected I spotted the loom wiring plug sticking out of the bonnet liner. so another easy fix.

We had also tided some of the BK35093 paint work issues, The battle marked front bumper looks much better. This was followed by 3 hour of deep cleaning on the bk35093 paint work ..

the result is a gleaming CosmosBlack 540

We was hoping to have the MOT ticket that evening ... But the inspector was AWOL that day.

So BK35093 will be waiting at 9.00 am tomorrow outside the MOT centre ... This should see the bk35093 heading to Castle Combe to meet another E34 540/6!

that's all for this bunch of updates still many updates to come
