This card worth buying at around £550 - £580 in light of the GTX 1080 Ti launch?

Fancy a higher end card, getting bored waiting for VEGA and the non ref Ti's are so damn pricey.

What do you think of the MSI gaming GTX 1080?

I'd probably just buy the cheapest 1080 or find the cash to get cheapest 1080ti (although I find paying so much hard to stomach)

wouldn't pay more than £420 for a 1080 now. Definitely wouldn't pay in the region of £550+ even for the best model 1080 if noise is an issue just leave the Ti at stock and put the fan to 60% it'll still outperform the fastest 1080s out there

No

If you are going to spend big money get a 1080 Ti.

You know you are going to end up with one anyway so do it now.:D:)

AKA Go big or go home lol. If your spending that much, might as well stretch a little further for the Ti. Otherwise wait for EOL (1100 series launch) to pick up a 1080 at a more reasonable price or something. A big shame that MSI now price-gouge their most popular cooler. I guess if something sells... they can up the prices eh?

Wait for EOL? what? i dont know how it works for you guys in the UK but here in Denmark EOL products actually goes up in price.

Just keep a look out on the MM and the Bay S/H is where you want to be buying 1080 now. The same could be said for the 1070 or better still 980ti for less money.

Well it's a bit of both here. Retailers do sudden price drop sales to clear stock and make way for the new GPUs (after all the old ones wouldn't be able to compete normally) and then afterwards maintain a high price due to limited supply (or lack thereof).

Maybe even just go for another cooler, MSI Gaming isn't quite as great as it used to be. MSI Armour is the same thing pretty much, just different base clocks and colour (and potentially backplate).

Either go big or go small...

980ti at 200 in MM or 699 on a 1080 ti

1080 Ain't worth 500

+1 Exactly whart I said lol. Except I forgot the 'go small' part.

OP has a 780 so a 2nd hand 980ti would be a decent upgrade. Especially if playing at resolutions like 1080p/1440p.
