Qashqai Leasing without maintenance

Hi all,

I'm going to lease a car for the Mrs for a 3 year term on a 10,000 miles lease.

I've an option of maintenance for like £40 a month over the price of the lease.

Seems a lot! Does anyone know how many MOT's and services I would need on a Nissan QashQai over 3 years and the likely costs?

Is it brand new? If so it wont need an mot for the first 3 years anyway, other than that it'll just need its yearly service I expect. I assume Nissan have a fixed price for servicing, just look it up on their website. I'd expect a full service to cost around £200 odd. It wouldn't need a full service after the first year anyway.
 
If it's a new car the warranty will cover you for any technical problems, so all you need to do is get the servicing costs over those three years and see if it comes to less than £1440.

I can't imagine for a second it'll be anywhere even near that, even factoring in a set of tyres and brakes.
 
one set of tyres and one service is all the likely costs, maybe an oil servce as well.

£40 x 36 months - £1440. You do the maths.....

Would NEVER bother paying for maintenance unless the numbers are vastly lower.

/edit yes it's brand new, didn't have to be a Qashqai, but I do quite like them and all the spec you get for the price when compared to the Sportage and the Tuscon won it for me.

I wanted to get as close to £200 a month as possible.

There were a few sites with £172 for an Acenta but they all quoted higher when I contacted them which was frustrating to say the least.

Pretty happy with this one because it's got loads of extras.

Sounds like a pretty poor deal?

Works out to £272/month, or just over £9800 for the term.

You can buy brand new for ~£19k, and they seem to be on auto trader at 2-3 years old with 30k on them for £11-£13k. This means you can expect depreciation of between £6-8k over the first three years, or £167-222/month

You could save even more by buying a 6-12 month old used approved one for ~£15-16k and avoiding that first year of depreciation and still get most of the benefits of a brand new one.
 
lol yeah, need a good sized car for a family of 5. Would work out at like £239 a month which is definitely more than I wanted.

Assuming it's 35+9 at £213.78 per month and then £198 administration fee, then £26/month for maintenence.

Amortised I think this comes £292 per month which seems a lot!

This is great advice and you should take note. Leases are only worthwhile if the cost to lease it over the term is less than the depreciation you would have lost if you had bought it outright.

But but but deposit and fees don't count because after that it is just the £213.78 monthlies!!!11

i think its 25% of OTR price at 10K miles per year

that's what everyone aims for on PistonHeads
