are the 1080ti founder's edition worth getting over the custom cooler one's that are coming out I am asking cos I can step up to the evga 1080ti founders edition right now and I do have 74 days to go on my step up I could wait to see if any SC version gets added to the list

Depends if a noisy fan annoys you or not.

Noise doesn't matter get ref design, if it does wait for other options.

there are mixed reviews on the 1080ti prone to noise or thermal throttling if you overclock them so if they don't add any SC versions on the 1080ti the list I could step up then at least I have a 1080ti

As above ref cards are noisy but I would step up certainly if you can. You could always add an EVGA hybrid kit when they are released in a month or so.

I know the 980Ti hybrid AIO fits the 1080Ti so you could do that if you don't want to wait. Gamers nexus have just done 3 parts on it.

I'm delighted with my reference card, it clocks to 2ghz with a custom fan curve..yes its moderately noisy with a custom curve but I can't hear it at all when playing Bf1 and I love the fact it vents the hot air straight out the back!

I'm with you I don't get everyone slating it as if it's the worst cooler. I think it looks great and my Bose speakers just pump noise over my ref 980 Ti can sitting at up to 80% wouldn't bother me

My EVGA GTX 1080 SC ACX 3.0 in SLi are noisier than my Zotac GTX 1080 F.E SLi cards in a 3Dm Time Spy stress test or Kombustor :) I'd say the overhaul nVidia made with the FE card paid off well.

I think Nvidia reference coolers look fantastic as well, not sure why everyone gets a boner for custom open fan coolers... I think they look tacky personally :p

I've always found Ref classy looking, and plenty of headroom for overclocking.

After seeing what custom 1080s can do vs FE I'd just get an FE personally set a fan speed to not go above 70% it keeps noise within tolerance and and should keep the gpu at 80 degrees or below even overclocking (Y)

I would only get the FE if you are going to put a block or AIO on it or you can save a bit money over the cost of a custom cooler.
