Car for GF £12000

I get where you're coming from @DannyW, and to be honest now after the last 3 cars my wife just trusts me to know what she would and wouldn't like. I obviously show her a shortlist and get her to be involved in the test drive/purchase, but she's more than happy with what I recommend these days.

Same here but there is always the niggling worry that she'll end up not liking it or some issue develops, and then it could become a bone of contention "I never wanted this car anyway, why couldn't you just let me buy that nice pink one instead!?!"

She's at least agreed to drive a 1 series and a TT, I'll throw a Scirroco in the test drive weekend too

Obviously I am biased towards the TT but for me it ticks all the boxes. It is even quite practical and has some good usable boot space when you need it. Just don't sit in the back seats! :p

You can fit a bike in the back wheel off, or a dog (big springer) and some bags for a weekend away.

The rear seats are useless for anyone other than a dwarf, but once folded down you get some decent space.

THIS or THIS meets all of the criteria and with the added bonus of saving you £5k~.

My wife recently got one after she had a similar criteria (but slightly smaller budget) and is thrilled by it.

Exactly. If your a bit boring or a badge snob you will have a list which contains the 335d.

If you want fun and you want a driver's car, you would have one with the ST on it ;)

Are you 17?

Granted an ST would be more fun to rag around a town centre or Asda car park. And probably a track but lets be realist how many st owners go on a track? Most barley venture from their council estates.

Reps also drive 320d's, not 335d's which incase you don't know do 0-60 in 4.4
seconds and 0-100 in a tad over 11

As for drivers cars isn't the current shape ST the one with the worst steering ever? i.e. Little feel and driver involvement?

But it's still a rep mobile :/

At least get the petrol.
How old are you? A Focus ST might be alright for fairly new driver/young bloke to mess around with his mates, but it isnt a car which you would usually compare with a 335d. They'd never be viewed by the same crowd.
