1080ti worth the premium over the 1080?

I just sold my 1070..

I have finance agreed for 1080ti but wondering if I would be better to just get a 1080?

I game in the HTC Vive only and have a overclocked 2500k

IMO, get the 1080ti. Jumping to the next card up will have not as much improvement. Same reason I have a 090ti going to the 1080ti. http://www.gamespot.com/articles/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1080-ti-review/1100-6448559/ benches further down.

Going from a 1070 to a 1080 is not a big increase in power. But it's also not really ideal to match a 2500k with a 1080Ti, unless you are at very GPU intensive resolutions like 4k.

Maybe get the 1080Ti but have a full system upgrade on the to do list.

I am in the same boat as well and not sure what to do.

The average price for the custom ti's will be around £750-800.

The cost of the 1080 is dropping and would not be surprised to see a promo at april for one at £400.

So is the ti worth nearly double for 30% increase?

I will be running it at 3600x1920 60hz ti overkill right?

tbh, if you can score a 1080 for less than £500 I think it's well worth doing that. The only reason TI is attractive is if you game at more than 1440p. Just my 2c

I had a ti in my sights as a 'want'' rather than a need but the zotac amp 1080 for £435 brand new from overclockers (after selling game code) was just too much to resist.

A ti would cost nearly 100% more for 30% performance increase. Now I've been in this game long enough to realise that the law of diminishing returns kicks in and that's probably 'good value' for 30%. I chose the 1080 this time but who knows next time!

Speaking from experience, once you overclocking your 1080 (and most do 2ghz) it's hot on the heels of the Gp102 based cards anyway... Brilliant value at sub £500

Hardly. I wouldn't go as far as 20% but perhaps 15% at the very best. 10-15% is on avergae what i see. But it makes the most difference on minimum frames. It usually depends on how much of a OC the i5 has.
I was thinking of dialing my 3770k upto 4.8 ghz but the amount of voltage extra i need is just way too much over 4.6ghz. Then just thinking about it, it's going to make little difference in games anyway. 4.6ghz needs 1.24 volts but 4.8 needs 1.295 just to make it stable. Which increases my temps abit even under water.

Hell yes! I had a 980 Ti and was thinking about the 1080 with the price drops and then seen some 4k benchmarks and was like is that all I'm getting the Ti on the other hand I've no issues running 4k it really is a pleasure to play the latest games 4k maxed out and get a solid 50+ fps all times

It entirely depends on what you want - best performance now then get the GTX 1080 ti, otherwise get the GTX 1080 and wait for the first true 4K card: Volta. Personally sticking with what I have until we see cards hitting decent fps on 4K. Also waiting for cards that come equipped with HDMI 2.1 (freesync on any TV even on Nvidia cards!), as that should allow you to score a pretty decently sized 100Hz+ 4K HDR PVA screen for relatively little money (as compared to the £2500 asus is going to charge for the 27" 144Hz HDR 4K screen they have lined up).

I went from a 1080 to the ti variant and at 3440*1440 I've seen gains of over 30 FPS in some titles and the minimums are far better giving a smoother experience.
I would go for it.

You could always be waiting for the next best thing and end up buying nothing for a very long time, personally i want to enjoy now and today not live in the future that may never arrive.

What you need is new platform. 2500k is not powerful enough now to push today's cards. Yes it will work, but your minimums will suffer and your be holding the card back.

Ocuk offers very nice finance options with 0% interest so why not, indeed. My 1080 at £619 cost me £100 / month for 6 months, barely even noticed it

Im wondering at the moment if my 5 yr old 2700k @ 4.8 is holding back my system, recently picked up a 1080 and thinking about a cpu/mb/ram upgrade but not sure if the difference will justify the expense.
