Involved in an incident yesterday; minimal damage to my car, more damage to other car,
Both joined a round about; I was in L hand lane, her R hand lane, somehow converged, leading to damage to other car.

Not sure who was at fault, possibly me but i honestly don't know. their insurance excess is £350,. mine is £250.

What happens in the instance of my fault claim, 50/50 claim regarding excess.

Damage to my car is far less than £250 and it doesn't bother me anyway; they're getting a quote from a body shop this morning and getting back to me regarding cost to rectify.

If neither of you are sure who's at fault then the claim will most likely go 50/50, If they're getting a quote for damage to their vehicle though to give to you it sounds like they believe you're at fault?

The body shop quote is to sort of see where we go, I think.
Main question is if it goes 50/50, or my fault, am i going to have to pay anything out? other than increased premiums for the next few years?

Hopefully, if the quote is slightly more than their excess, then we can either split the cost 50/50 or similar so that they don't have to pay their £350 excess, and neither of us have to mention anything to insurers. Fingers crossed, but i'm not too hopeful, two panels damaged; one being the front bumper :(

If your insurance company pay out to you for damage to your car, whether it's entirely your fault or 50/50 then you will have to pay your excess. You only won't pay it if the other party is going to be at fault and the money recovered from them or their insurance company.

Without knowing more details this will probably go 50/50 so you will probably have to pay your excess if you go through insurance.

Strictly speaking you still need to inform them of an accident even if you don't claim, as this is part of the policy conditions. Whether you do is obviously up to you.

If your not having your own damage fixed you don't need to pay the excess on your policy

50/50 you pay your excess, they pay theirs and the insurance companies pay for the damage. If neither of you are sure who's at fault, tell them to fix their own car and you'll fix yours outside of insurance. You still have to declare it to your insurance company though irrespective of whether you're going to claim or not.
