Anyone else cut their own hair?

This.

I use a handheld mirror and the large bathroom mirror. 2 back and sides and 7 on top. Then use a 4 to blend them together. Another trick I've mastered when doing the back/sides is to shave upwards and outwards instead of just sideways, takes the edge off.

Been doing this for many years now after getting sick of queueing for ages on a Saturday morning in the barbers and paying money for something I can do easily myself.

What is with all you people queuing at the hairdressers? You make an appointment and turn up 10mins in and out, I would never keep going to somewhere I had to queue in.

Men go to barbers, not hairdressers, and barbers don't do 'appointments'.

Well I guess on that stereotype, only girls cut hair unless they're gay, OP is gay! ha!

:p

To answer the OP, I go to a hairdressers, I turn up 10 minutes late, wait another 20 and then go in, have a coffee and a chat and then go home

My wife cuts mine. Trained hair stylist so she tells me. She practiced on my hair when she was training and it ended up being open bladed through out with the amount of accidents she had cutting it. It was also almost every colour you can think of as she had to practice colouring too.

Amazing I have some hair left. She changed her job and is now a nurse, hope she doesn't make the same accidents :(

To everyone who cuts their own hair:

You look like you've cut your own hair.

Just go to the barbers and get it done properly.

I disagree, I have cut my hair for years, fair enough it's just a grade 2/3 all over but I always get my handiwork reviewed and I think I've missed a spot twice in 17 years :)

That's clippers though all the same all over, not too much of a challenge.

I asked my barber today when I got my hair cut, if he thinks he could cut his own hair and he said "not if I wanted it to look good" and he spends 6 days a week cutting hair lol.

Never again.... It wasn't until my gf noticed I was developing a "bald patch" which in my mid 20's was not what I wanted to hear, that I stopped cutting it myself.

In the end, it turned out I was wearing my headphones so much, my hair underneath was actually breaking as it tried to grow.

Exactly, even barbers get someone else to do it!

A money saving tip to all diy barbers:

Do your own tattoos as well, it'll look fine :)

Yeah so you've just admitted that doing the same grade all over is easy and achievable - so your point about people looking "like they've cut their own hair" is now incorrect - and it is perfectly possibly to cut your hair without it looking bad.

Clippers at home, other half does it for me and does my step lads normally at the same time!

Literally wrote that almost verbatim! :D
