I think a pistol in the hands of the police officer that was stabbed to death may have saved his life though?
Wasn't the officer that was attacked armed? I thought I had read that he did have a firearm on him, just didn't get chance to use it?

This statement got retracted later, he wasn't armed.

Ah fair enough, my mistake.
"Known to the police" is such a misleading term.. Maybe if they had significantly fewer people on the lists they could police them more effectively but it's clearly nonsense to believe we could ever properly keep a constant eye on everyone on the "list" there's probably not enough police officers to complete the task.
Although I highly doubt the scumbag approached him advertising what he was going to do.
Possibly. But if he was approached from behind? Probably not.
I don't know the specifics.

Didnt the guy mow down a load of people and then get out of the car with a knife?
May have not narrated what he was about to do but i am sure the officer knew the guy was dangerous.
ISIS have claimed responsibility for the attack and claimed that the attacker was one of their soldiers.

Waving a knife as he's running towards you is a fair indication i would have thought

Of course they have, whether or not the scumbag pledged allegiance to ISIS is besides the point. They will claim any attack no matter how small or big it is.ISIS have claimed responsibility for the attack and claimed that the attacker was one of their soldiers.

I said I don't know specifics. However what I do know is that this whole thing happened in less than a minute.
Maybe he hit a load of people, ran away from the car (possibly in a small crowd of people panicking, caught an officer off guard (or trying to figure out what the hell has just happened) and pulled the knife out last minute?
Even if he was brandishing a knife, would an officer notice? Tens of people have just been run down on a bridge metres away, it was probably pretty chaotic.
I think you need to go a read up on the news for a bit then come back to this thread, what exactly happened is already well documented
