Android Auto needs the cable as the phone essentially drives the car display, it just wouldn't work well over Bluetooth.

If I was buying one new I'd want DSG and the winter pack. LED illumination pack is a no-brainer too. Although now I'm looking at the website, it doesn't look like auto lights and wipers are standard now so I'd want those as well.

Yeah I get that but then why is the USB port not standard even though Full Link is? So the infotainment is capable of Android Auto but if you don't purchase the connectivity box then you can't make use of it.

LED Illumination comes as part of the convenience pack I believe which adds auto wipers, auto dimming rear mirror and lights.
 
Out of interest why is everyone recommending a Leon over a Golf? Theyre the same underneath aren't they? Is a Golf just overpaying for the brand?
