Hi all,

Picked up a Ford Focus ST-Line and a Fiesta ZS today at local ford dealership. Both used, on 16 plate and 15 plate respectively.

The guy tried to sell me GAP insurance, which I definitely want but not at £350 per car.

Where is a good, REPUTABLE, place to get it from?

He warned me against cheaping out on it because he's heard stories of people not having it payed out for various reasons.

I'm not intending to be cheap about it and I want to buy it today, just not at his price as it's £150 more than anywhere else I've found.

Anyone used a company that they would recommmend?

Thanks,

G

I've used ALA before, there used to be discount via the Honest John site, not sure if this is still the case. Never required to claim so can't comment on that side of it, but it was far cheaper than the ridiculous mark up dealers add on to GAP.

Im with ala and I've had to use them too. Paid out in about a week. Just filled out a form and thy took care of it. Back with them with new car.
Reasonable prices as well.

Chris Knott were cheaper over 3 years, but I need it for longer and can't see that they will do it so leaning towards ALA at the mo, thanks all :)

Another GAP question, is it still relevant if the finance is 0%?
I assume yes as the car will still have dropped in value straight from purchase.

I was looking at these:

Ala here , got a good price as they priced match , chose replacement vehicle option. use PISTON12 for some discount , I'm sure there are others as well

Used ALA myself, dealership wanted about £400, I found it via their website for £130 and about 20% cash back at the time through TCB. Oh, and the ALA one was for 4 years, the dealership one was for 3!

£10k worth of gap from Ala was only £108 for me. About 1/4 of the price you get from any dealers.

£194 each car, but for 5 years with ALA :)

Spoke with Dawn at ALA and she was really nice. She shopped around with me on the phone to make sure they were the best price she could find.

Came down from £225 and £228 to £193.80 and £193.20.

I hadn't told them this at the beginning, but I was prepared to pay anything under £400 in total so this works out perfectly.

Thanks for the recommendations!

Cheers,

G

I'm with ALA too. I think I paid £200 for cover up to 35k (money for replacement vehicle of equal spec) for 5 years.
