Anyone got VCDS in the S.Yorkshire area?

Have you considered buying the OBDEleven? Done loads on my Golf with it and much cheaper than a Ross-Tech cable and does the same adaptations and diagnostic.

Yeah you can do coding and adaptation changes. It's a about £50 including the Bluetooth OBD dongle. Used it for various tweaks on my Octavia.

Hmmm, not sure about the Audio side. Just been looking on their Forum and can't find anyone mentioning it but I have done long coding with mine with the Ross Tech instructions but non on the Audio system.

ODBeleven also has a habit of not taking into account current coding and can end up doing more harm than good.

I'd stick with VCDS or VAG CAN Professional, and ideally someone who knows what they are doing.

You can always check the VCDS map on audi-sport.net forums to see if there's anyone local to you.

I'd offer but depending on where in South Yorkshire that could be a bit of a trek!

!

Not hear of anyone having any problems with it at all? I have been using it since it first came out and it would be my coding that caused issues and that was easily reversible.

Audi-sport.net is literally full of warnings away from ODBeleven, not least of all because it can't be used for backing up existing settings or creating adaptation maps.

When it works it's "good value", but when it goes wrong, it really goes wrong. Couple of "expert" VCDS and VAG CAN PRO users have spent days undoing problems that ODBeleven has introduced on customer vehicles.

I'll stick to my VCDS cable.

What's the best way to get the VCDS cable? is your only option the official one from £225+ for only 3 vins or the old one at £289. both seem very expensive.
Not even sure I need one I only want to reset the service light and read codes. I would have though the ODBeleven would have been perfect for those type of requirements.

That's user error for not making a note of settings before making changes. Also it can be used to back up settings now, it is evolving at every App update. Cheaper to buy that than even rent a cable for a week and have over £200 in my pocket for other things. As with all things that mess with the core functions of the car, use with caution.

I just need my stereo coding to enable my AUX cable I've installed and to also reset the air-bag light because I decided to turn the engine on when the cable was unplugged on the dashboard. :o:p

This. It also provides a log of changes, with the previous and new values so you can reverse back changes without major difficulty. For a few minor tweaks I didn't fancy paying £200 when an App could do it for £50. I've also used the Carly app for BMW (formerly BMWhat) in the past which also worked a treat for changes on my E92.
