I dont know the ins and outs but it caused lots of issues with add ons that need dependencies.

At my old work, I changed the screensaver on some of the PCs to the "my pictures slideshow" with a single image in there of a BSOD. It caught a few people out :-)

For anyone who got fooled yesterday after 12noon, then it doesn't apply. In the UK, April Fool's is only applicable until 12noon.
