Just checking for our run tomorrow (Monday) night at Crota for Challenge mode (perhaps using Mach's CP and then a fresh run for the loot).

A quick note about Crota...

I was running a group through Challenge last night.. and managed to get him down below half health after one sword.

Use a weapons of light bubble on the top right rock..
Hit him with 3 R2s then head back to the bubble on the rock.
Hit him with 2 R2s, a super and another R2.

Unbelievable Jeff!!
 
Yup I was getting him down to roughly half health with an extra R1 each time but no WoL (timing was very tight though and I struggled to get it consistently - and I really mean "wow, how did I manage to get him that low...")*. Your approach with WoL is better as it allows for more consistency and allows for more flexible timing.









*Of course this amazing feat of "skillz" was countered by my consistent ability to blow myself up when attempting to get the sword in the first place..... :p
 
And the fact Crota decided he didn't want to kneel or jump straight up and whack you with sword lol
 
Thanks oweo i look forward to VoG later this week. Crota wasn't fun with lfg, glitches an all. Managed to get deathsinger challenge an got exotic word of crota.
Do u guys think if I ran VoG normal before hard mode I can infuse an normal weapon to 400 I want the oracle disrupter in prep for the hm
 
I thought the new drops are only from the 390 versions of the raids? The old raids exist (LL wise) but are legacy only.

In essence VoG will be "HM" only

EDIT: From what I have seen Outbreak Prime and fast firing autos (1/100 IIRC) are good for Oracles from a primary perspective. High Impact fusions also seem good. If in doubt though G'horn should hopefully still one shot them.
 
Really looking forward to VoG gotta be fair, haven't done it since year 1 on Xbox.

Hopefully get a challenge mode done tonight :) We going for the Ir-Yut challenge to Owe?

Yes, I would like to get the Crota challenge done first if that is cool with everyone?

Then fresh start and get the DS challenge done (TBH it should be smooth sailing to that point with our little rag tag group of guardians... looking at you Mach not running Glowhoo..... :p). DS challenge is only hard due to the timer. Exotic swords are the go to but Gjally, shotguns, snipers and supers are all useful as well).

EDIT: Dear god, just watched a team do the Ir Yut challenge in 1:09!

Secret is having GG hunters shoot the Shriekers with CH and keyhole.

Yeah the DS Challenge is only difficult due to time.

Raze lighters for the ogres and knights, GG/SS for shriekers..

Split into groups and you can rinse it.

My group kinda struggled a bit and finished right towards the end of the countdown, took 02:08:00
 
Couple of people doing Crota runs in different ways:






The main thing here that we weren't doing that I noticed they all did, which potentially causes issues if not done, is taking out the boomers and wizards. After that, I think the bubble method looks good.

This is a bit mental....

A team has 1 phased Crota.


Method:
  • Complete Deathsinger Challenge until Swordbearer decides to join the party.. kill but do not pick up sword.
  • Obliterate Ir Yut.
  • Start Crota.
  • Weapons of light bubble near Crota.
  • Slay Crota Swordbearer.
  • 2 guardians pick up Swords.
  • Jump into WOL bubble.
  • Down Crota.
  • Beast him with two swords.
It's honestly unreal the way the Destiny community works out these sorts of strats.

It all takes less than 60 seconds.. Superb.
