Let me see if I have this right.

1: Cousin was on a gym forum talking smack about "X" for roid use.
2: People on gym forum mistake Cousin for a guy called "John".
3: People on gym forum tell "X" that "John" is talking smack about his roid use.
4: "X" flies into roid rage and goes to gym to confront the actual "John".
5: The actual "John" find out whats going on and complains to Gym.
6: Gym complain to forum.
7: Forum admins look into it and tell Gym who Cousin is.
8: Gym tell John.
9: Cousin is bricking it that "John" will relay information on to "X" who will take him to Suplex city.

Have I got that right?
Good Lord that was highly more understandable than the OP, thanks for the translation.

why is john the one who's been told, surely the reasonable thing would be to confirm to x that john is not his man, then tell the cousin that this has gone on and the forum mods will be dealing appropriately.

So I'd be asking which court order the mods were following dictated them giving the details to a 3rd party.

I personally would not be going down the route of being aggressively defensive just yet. First end it with an apology. The gripe with the forum wont get you anywhere anyway as far as the gym situation goes..

why is john the one who's been told

Probably because he was the one who made the complaint.

then you would be wrong, its in the privacy statement that personal information can be shared with their entire group. so nothing can be done nore should it.
he was caught being a total @@@@ end and is now trying to worm his way out like a dirty snake.
get him to appologise and tell him not to be such a @@@@

You're 100% right that he's made this issue himself and needs to pay the price, not disputing that in the slightest.

It is the definition of "our group" that interests me, and that implies only usage of internal and associated company staff are entitled to access personal details. If the gym is the company concerned then fine, but unless I've missed it earlier, the OP hasn't clarified if it is a public forum run by the gym or not. If not then I think they are in breach of their own privacy statement having read the quoted paragraph above.

he hasn't clarified but he made it sound like it is linked like a sub division or owned by same parent company.

It does hinge on that really. It is academic though as he's been a keyboard warrior by the sounds of it and will likely get what's due!

Forum isn't run by the gym no. Its an independent gym talk forum.

Not defending his actions at all....but obviously you don't know what has been said etc...its hardly news worthy. But still he will man up and take the brunt of this.
My point being, from a person who wants to learn from this...I still feel the forum hasn't acted accordingly or the gym legally. But I cant be certain. Just my gut instinct is its not been dealt with properly.
Perhaps by the gym owner it seems.

where is the forum link I want to see this epic post!?!?!?

also your cousin is a tool for trolling, but an even bigger tool for fessing up

Don't appologise face to face, damage is done, just delete account and make a new one. No harm no foul

Have you actually read any of the post?

He hasn't confessed, the gym have gone to the gym forum and asked for information!

No forum link will be provided.

Doesn't matter if the account is open/closed/banned...minimum John and X along with Gym owner know my cousin is the culprit....who knows who they have informed?!

Forum isn't run by the gym no. Its an independent gym talk forum.

Besides the point really as:

1. If the gym and forum were linked, then it was okay to distribute information

2. If the gym is independent, then your gripe is with the forum, which is a separate entity to the gym and so threatening legal action with the forum will do nothing for that situation.

Also, I very much doubt your cousin can do much about distribution of information without a lot of effort for minimal return. As far as the forum goes, they can be argued that information was passed on and processed fairly. Your cousin is accused of harassing on the forum platform and a request was made by the gym to pursue and investigate harassment between gym members and an accusation of drug use. Forums might not take a bit of trolling seriously but gyms do and forums will do if a business informs them that they are the platform for the harassment and accusations. The fact that your cousin was in the wrong to start with puts him at a significant disadvantage when it comes down to pointing fingers.

Really, you have to ask: 'what am i trying to achieve?'

If its getting your cousin out of hot water, than an apology is the only way.
If it is trying to get the forum fined, then you may get somewhere but it is doubtful and not worth the money or effort.
