has anyone used mobile phones direct before? Looking at getting a galaxy s8+ from them on Vodafone with £9.99 up front which is a lot cheaper than anywhere else.

Thanks

See the chat here :) (past few pages)

A few of us have used them for S8/S8+ orders... also their child company smartphonecompany.co.uk which was actually £1/month cheaper for me at the time
Awesome appreciate that. I'll have a read. Is the phone still expected earlier than release date.

I'm with EE and have a slight hesitation switching to Vodafone in case download speeds are poor

No worries :)

You'll see a post in there from me regarding just that. I thought for a while that 21st was the release date, and all the high street shops are offering 8 days earlier than that! But that's not the case, it is 28th for normal release and around 20th for the 8 day early thing.

When I placed my order MPD/smartphonecompany had no mention of the 8 day early thing, then they posted it up after. I called them and they said it should extend to all existing orders as well and they're hoping to receive them about 10 days early

Can't comment on EE speeds... But I find my Vodafone 4G speeds more than sufficient :)

Thanks. Ee speeds are very good and can get around 60 in my area after switching from 02 who got really poor and just don't want to go back to that.

I tried my lg G4 on EE compared to mate on s7 edge and EE was around 35 where I fired and voda was 25 and then tried it in his mums cheap basic Samsung on Vodafone and the speeds where the same as EE

Weird

I'm thinking of doing the voda deal on mobile phones direct on new contract and trying it for a few days to see what I think and then cancel my EE and port my number over. As I'm advised that Vodafone do a no quibble cancellation within 30 days

Yup that second bit is correct. I think you have the usual 14 day cooling off period (law) and then they seem to extend it to 30 days

I just need to read into the specifics as I would think there are some conditions such as phone to be in re sellable condition ect or and protective wrap to still be on. Best way may be to just use the voda sim in my office which is unlocked

Ha yeah I'm not sure on the specifics

I think though it actually mentions network issues? In which case it is obvious you'd need to use the phone to find that out

One thing is for sure... the vodafone deal (purely from a money point of view) is the best out there lol

It is the best deal. Was the best on the carphone warehouse version with 170 up front and free speaker. The 10 quid one on mobile phones direct is even better and 30 cash back on quidco

I don't know if you read that other thread or not, but someone worked out in there that one of the deals (30gb one I've taken), if you minus out £240 for two years Spotify if you were to buy it... We're just about covering the cost of the phone over two years! So the minutes, data etc is effectively free if you're an existing Spotify, now TV or sky sports mobile user :D
