Hi there,

I'm currently rocking a 7700k with a 980Ti Strix using a predator 360 AIO both under it.

Handles the temperatures reasonably well, 7700k maxes out at 80 and 980Ti around 52 so manageable.

I've bought all the bits for a full loop in Caselabs M10 so was wondering whether to get another 980Ti for around £220 and SLI them or sell my current 980ti and go 1080Ti.

I'm running an X34 Predator if this helps your decisions I'm just thinking for an extra £220 I could see some reasonable performance gains.

Value wise, I'm thinking 1080ti is about 50% faster that my current 980ti?

It's either a £600 upgrade or £220 I know SLI is a piece of **** sometimes so that's why I'm asking it's just a stock gap for the new cards to come.

Summer is coming. How much heat do you really want to deal with?

Each time I went Crossfire due to wanting an instant boost with 1 particular game and there being a ridiculously cheep deal on a 2nd card, the novelty would wear off as soon as that 1 game did - last time Elite dangerous 3 screens.
It wasn't crossfire driver problems that ever ended it, it was heat and noise.

1080ti all the way. Not only will you be guaranteed your performance, but you'll have longevity.

SLI is dead.

SLI might be suffering but multi GP is still in everyones mind. 2x 980Ti in the right environment is slightly better than 1x 1080TI and a lot cheaper if you already have one. Then save up for a real step forward with whatever Nvidia come out with next.
Andi.

And, what's the right environment?

What does that even mean?

I don't think it's good advice to be pointing anyone in the direction of SLI, especially when they can afford a top end single card.
It means some people look at things in different ways. All is not black and white or simple.
You are so wrong with SLI, multi gpu is still a thing and has a future. Agreed you need to understand a bit more about PC'S but surely if you want a standard environment buy a console.
Andi.
