Hi :)

I'm currently stuck at 5.1ghz with 1.53v

I know my voltage is high, but my temps are still really low max 70 degrees.

I would like to try and get to 5.3ghz (2700k)

Is there anything else apart from multi and voltage to help overclock more and maybe allow me to lower my voltage?

I have a gigabyte z77x-ud5h

I only use my PC for an hour gaming every other night so don't mind running at high temps.

Those are crazy volts. Eventually you'll degrade the chip (with those volts, fairly quickly), and then no amount of extra volts will keep it stable at those clocks.

another one of these threads :p did you 2500K die then? i say you give this one at least 1.8v this time and get it over with.

Jesus, im worried about putting 1.35 volts through mine! What cooler are you using to only get those temps at that sort of OC? Mine is a 2600k at 4.2Ghz and after a few hours of game play my chip reaches 68 - 69 degrees C on a H60 cooler.

Those are pretty high temps/voltage to be honest. My 2700k @ 4.7GHz (1.34v) is in the low to mid 50's while gaming, and that's with a 980Ti dumping all of it's heat into my case and all of my fans under 1000RPM

I think the moral of the story here is that every CPU overclocks and heats up differently depending on thermal compound, cooling, case and the silicon lottery.

Thats made my mind up, will never buy a second hand cpu.
Never buy one from OP, but otherwise you'll be fine. I've bought 1 new CPU and many many many 2nd hand CPUs and all have been fine. Full range of the silicon lottery too. Fortunately with access to the member's market the sellers are usually honest with CPU history and savvy enough to not massively overvolt.
