Anything better than a 55W905?

I've been to John Lewis and was looking at a few tvs under 1300 and nothing looked as good as my current Sony 55W905.
Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated ad this is driving me nuts. Is this an impossible search for this price range???

At that price I'd say wait for oled to hit your price range (think the b6 is 1600), unless you have a lot of 4k content you want to watch?

Im also looking for a new TV, coming from a 46" W905. Did have a KS7000 but returning it due to issues.

There is the Sony XE9005 and Panasonic EX750 entering the market now that look good but Im waiting on reviews. They start at around 1300 - 1500 and thats just for the 49/50" screen sizes.

Same predicament here

Had the 905 since 2013. Finally lots of 4K content on Sky and Netflix etc. so interested in an upgrade but nothing for reasonable money seems worth it.

My plan is to wait until early 2018 and see what happens to the outgoing OLED sets. I think a decent bargain to be had at that point.

I remember the 905 55 going 1500 to 900 in about 3 months at that time of year!

^^^^^ Exactly This

Ended up going for broke and after hours of research I finally bought a new TV
LG OLED 55" B6V!!! Through Argos
Was 1700 (free sound bar worth 258)
(-169.90 saved 10% w/code TVSAVE)
- 11% quidco cashback (168.63)
-26 using a work perk for reduced gift cards
=Paid 1338.37 + whatever for selling sound bar easy 150 after fees
(1188.37 paid)
Technically only paid 88.37 as I'm using tv refund money to pay for 1100. - Total saving of 511.63 :)

Plus I joined the OLED tv club :) really hoping it doesn't suck for HDR gaming though I know they patched it but the Samsung competition were at 20 odd milliseconds!!!

If anyone wants to know how the OLED compared to the Sony 55W905B I'd be happy to help cos this tv lark is stressful lol.

Interested in the comparison if you get the chance.

Although think I'll be after 4K HRD OLED at 65" before I make the jump :D

I'm interested mate. I currently have the 905 and can't justify upgrading to anything other than an OLED. Motion wise to you notice much difference, for better or worse? Particularly in panning shots and in video games - 60 and 30 fps if you can compare the two.

Im in the same boat as yourself Warbie. But can't see me getting OLED for at least for another 2 years until the tech has moved on. I currently have the 2014 Samsung H6400 and love it seen mixed reviews on OLED and the 4k Samsung sets so im staying clear for the time don't want to risk getting rid of a decent enough set to get something im not happy with

plenty of tv's better than a W905. however they will all be rather expensive compared to it. your comparing a top end tv of it's time to mid range sets of today.

spend £500-£1000 on a sidegrade

£1400+ for an upgrade

wait a few years and that will be much cheaper to upgrade from

The problem is the non oled upgrades are only superior with 4k content and hdr. For 1080p, which is still mostly what I watch, they're side grades at best. I'd choose a w905 pq wise over the current Samsung sets for standard blu-ray, for example. So basically it's do you want 4k/HDR enough to justify the cost of a new panel, otherwise splash out on oled. I'm feeling a LG b6 or b7 happening sometime this year as anything else would likely be a disappointment.
