Maybe the lack of oxygen from spending days on end in his bedroom at his mum's house finally got to him - I mean why else would this idiot think it would be a good idea to go anywhere near an airport while dressed in black and carrying replica firearms...

Mr Evans tweeted the picture from his account @itsKapoow with the caption: “Some guy thought it was clever to walk through Birmingham Airport with a gun.

“Five armed police. What a fool.”

Mr Evans said he thought the young man was heading to Insomnia60 – the UK’s biggest gaming festival – and had dressed up for cosplay, short for costume play.

Another passer-by said: “The poor lad looked scared to death.”

Ouch - when we did airsoft, etc. first thing you'd do was make sure realistic looking weapons were boxed up properly for transit (likewise things like assault vests would normally be carried in a bag until on site rather than worn). Its so basic common sense.

EDIT: Hopefully the cops had a sense of humour about it though.

I've always wanted to do some dressing up in period outfits ever since I saw a medieval battle re-enactment when I was a kid. But I guess that is LARPing rather than cosplay. Sounds like a lot of fun.

Walking through an airport with a fake gun isn't the most intelligent thing to do though.

Clever. Real clever.

It's great fun if you ignore the rules and just bash your mates with foam weapons.

Good job they didn't Taser or Shoot him.

I remember about 20 years ago being sent to a report of 10 people fighting with axes and swords on a disused Hospital carpark - single crewed, no body armour or CAPTOR at the time, with backup at least 5-10 minutes away! Saw the crowd scrapping with swords etc., thought hmmm park up short or.. oh they've stopped... why are some of them dressed as Vikings? Then the penny dropped - turned out it was the local LARP Group from the University. Nice kids really, but had to have a word in their ear.

The day Andy90 banned uni kids from having fun in public

Had a chat with them about the wisdom of charging around with swords, albeit rubber and foam ones. Then had a good chat about computer RPG games, and the fact that at the time I was playing Everquest :)

Just realised, when I said 20 years ago, EQ dates it, was around 1999-2000!

Students though - the things they get up to!

Pretty sure if he had a gun he is doing a modern day cosplay character and wouldn't use faux medieval language.

The word is used to mock fedora and trenchcoat-wearing basement-dwellers, as it's the sort of thing they say to women in order to appear suave.

Oh. I don't think I can really take the **** out of people like that. I very rarely go out due to medical issues so you might count me as a basement dweller. Although I promise you I've never worn a fedora :). Although I have used fedora linux if that counts? :P
