Performance is as expected for a refresh.

Efficiency improvements dont seem to be there, though. Maybe thermal properties are a bit better allowing for higher clocks, but it's coming at an obvious cost to power consumption.

You have to laugh at the state of mainstream reviewers these days.
If you were to look at just this review with the few games they tested you would think the performance is really bad.

If you were to look at just this review you would think the performance was very good, often almost matching the GTX 1070, while sometimes not quite as fast as the GTX 1060, the latter would be the same games Techreport used, the only ones Techreport used.

Its pathetic!

Yea just checked the Hardware Cannucks review and it made the card look way better than some. Game suites make all the difference to a cards reviews.

Glad I didn't wait around for the RX580, literally grabbed the PowerColor Red Devil RX480 (8Gb) whilst it was on offer about 2 weeks ago. Does everything I need it to do and more, very powerful and sturdy card.

Man, it wasn't that long ago that Hardware Canucks were being accused of being Nvidia shills around here.

Yea and for good reason as there results for the 780ti v a 290x looking to see if Kepler was being gimped were way different to others. Happens a lot and you don't know if these sites are receiving back handers. There results look pretty normal and what you would expect from every game in there. I think most sites results look fair enough but if your game suite is not balanced then the results will look unbalanced.

Sad times for AMD when this is what they are producing:
https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Sapphire/RX_580_Nitro_Plus/31.html

Nvidia at around twice the performance per watt, that is more than occurs with a full node drop, more than occurs in a whole new architecture generation.Sure, as a consumer you may not care but it is a useful indication of the relative normalized performance level between AMD and NVidia. Now even if Vega magically can offer twice the performance per watt, which would be unheard of for the same node process, that puts it at about the same performance and power as Pascal, released 1 year later.

That £209 480 Devil looks sweet as heck now, good going for those that grabbed it! My GTR not too bad either though couldn't squeeze too much out of it. Glad I didn't wait for new cards tho. :D

Certainly ain't great with them stats. Hopefully Vega is a massive improvement here as it's a full on redesign with many efficiency improvements. Tbh though Performance is what is more important to the majority and in reviews that use a big gaming suite the 580 has the 1060 soundly beaten and with more Vram.

KitGuru says: ASUS delivers a solid implementation of the RX 570 that’s worth considering but only if the price was closer to £170. At £220 it makes no sense to us at all, especially as you can buy the almost identical Asus RX 470 Strix for £169.99.

:D
