planes, trains and buses

As mentioned above its an hour on a tube (which is bad enough, even if your not been on a mega bus for 9hours already) from Victoria to Heathrow, so factor that in to your cost & time. That does seem a very cheap train from Glasgow to London so go for train 1, or even better pay £80 and get a first ticket (although check what sort of service you get on that line, you may well get free booze and a decent meal!)

Train 1. No brainer.

Get to euston, Northern line to Leicester Square, have a quick wander round and a bite to eat for an hour or so, then grab the Piccadilly line to Heathrow.

Train 1, no contest. Try and upgrade the ticket too if sensible - i booked a 1st class ticket Glasgow to London for £50 recently, albeit travel in June

The only way I could hack 9 hours on a bus would be by getting absolutely plastered before the off and sleep all the way there.

Let the train take the strain my friend. Or do the sensible thing and move from Glasgow to London. You won't regret it.

Flying to Heathrow you'd have to collect luggage for the transfer and check in for the next flight, it's less travelling time but more faffing about and stressful if you don't leave much time to transfer

Rather a 40min flight and the transfer than a days worth of bus or train travel.

Decided to get the train. Actually managed to get a slightly cheaper ticket to London Kings Cross. (£36) Arrives at 5.53pm 3 hours should be enough time to make it to Heathrow i hope :D £6 on the tube i think (z 1- 6)

Should have flown. Leaves Glasgow at 15.25 and arrives Heathrow 16.55. Costs £74. Once you factor in costs getting from Kings Cross and how much you're going to spend on snacks and beer for the train the cost difference can't be huge.

Probably best to stay in Glasgow if you have to ask the internet how to travel and how much you want to spend doing it.

EDIT

Congratulations on your decision.

I don't understand why people were not originally saying train 2? You would have 2hrs 20 minutes to get to Heathrow from Euston. Even if you took your time, you would be at Heathrow in under an hour on the tube. Why would you want to stand around for any longer than necessary at an airport? That would still have left you plenty of time to get to the gate.

All it would take is a delay on the train and/or tubes and he'd be ******.

I'd have flown tbh, trains are way too unreliable in this country. Last week I had a ticket for a Virgin East Coast train from Leeds to KGX - was four hours late thanks to overhead power cables failing at Retford, and had to stand up all the way from Doncaster

How many other train journeys in this country were completed without delay in that same day?
