Pay in Pound or Euro (UK)

Hi, just about to buy a bike online from Germany. I have the option to pay €969 or £860 at checkout. €969 = £810 so £50 less. I intend to pay by MasterCard. If I pay in € will I save money or will the bank charge a fee?

You'll need to ask your card issuer what their conversion rate is. There is a Visa app that will tell you what Visa will charge, so there is probably a mastercard app too.

Normally you'll get charged a fee if you use a credit card for a foreign currency transaction, though there are some that don't. Need to read your T&Cs or contact the CC provider to find out how much.

i paid on my nationwide card while in ibiza and got a much better rate and no fee.

the bank will charge a fee (well almost all) but nowhere near the £50 difference, pay in Euros

The largest fee I can see on this list is 2.99%. Put that in to MasterCard's calculator and you get £839.67:

Worst case scenario, you save £20. Best case, 0% fee gives a £45 saving.
