I am rich beyond my wildest dreams

P.S. I wonder if anyone has ever lost out on any form of inheritance because they thought it was a scam of some kind............?

Scam him back! and post results :).

"While I am pleased to read you're letter you can understand my suspicion of a scam. Please transfer £1,000 to [acc num/sort] to prove your good intentions. I will then reply with any required details."

Worst case you get ignored, best case you get £1000 :D.

Yeah :D, i can't understand how these scams work.

OK he is asking for an insane proportion of your inherited wealth (50%), but there's no request for bank details or for you to send any money to secure some kind of transaction.

What does he get from you replying "please proceed".

I love the bit where it's all like "You have the same name, you're probably not related but **** it, have some money".

Why don't you reply Mynight, you've got the details in the letter in the OP. Say you're not the intended recipient, but you would change your name to match the deceased for 40% of the inheritance ;)
