Generation *********...

You're oversimplifying something to only the thought process. The people that throw instant punches would still be behaving in the same way had they been brought up differently - It would just be a slight variation of what you would have otherwise seen.

I'm not, you're oversimplifying it by saying biology makes people react certain ways that can't be controlled by them, which is nonsense.

Shocker, older generation berates younger one because older believes it was tougher for them/they don't understand/they copied us. That's never happened before.

Some people here make me laugh!

Also do you believe it's the kids that source some of the rubbish? Could it be in some cases, it's the older generation filling their heads/media/forums that is the problem????

I think this may be the first time where the current generation has it significantly worse than the previous in this country

We were meant to have Tommy Robinson give a talk at York in Autumn Term this year, but the talk was mysteriously cancelled after the SJWs all started protesting about him being allowed a platform. Such a joke, you cannot just ban someone from giving a talk because you don't agree with their views. Surely the sensible thing to do is listen to what he has to say, and challenge that based on your views with sensible questions after the talk
Yeah but that takes effort.

Having a tantrum and stopping him speaking is easier

You know when one of these people is triggered... their body goes straight into a state that resembles a panic attack/anxiety. They get put into shock which causes their whole body to shake and cortisol levels to sky-rocket. These people are not able to maintain a calmness in this case because they cannot deal with the high levels of stress. The reason why all of this happens is biology related. Their body should not have gone into this state even upon hearing something offensive.

EDIT: Also you mention "Find something / someone offensive - dont make friends with them or watch the offending thing again" - this is exactly what the offended party wants! The fact is they don't find offensive things - offensive things find them. When they are walking through London underground and a "Beach Body Ready" poster finds a fat girl... she gets triggered and wants to change the world around her - to get the signs removed - so they do not find her again!

Having experienced a panic attack and having seen numerous people have genuine panic attacks these "triggerings" are not panic attaxks.

Not even remotely close.

They have a littlw Moody hissy fit and thats about it.

I'd compare it to a simmilar level of "
Reaction" a drag queen has when you point out thier eye flick is wonkey

I can sympathize with your first line and the last part had me laughing, out loud :)

Yes, you think.

However I'm confused. My point was the current generation are being got at by the previous one by the look of it. It's the previous one I was having a go at! Apologies if I didn't articulate well enough.

It's because when you're young you see an idealistic world in which everyone can be happy, trouble is human nature isn't like that so you have to look after your own.

You will never save the starving in Africa or bring about world peace, lots of people suffer...

In all honesty this phenomenon has always existed, I've seen it plenty of times and I went through the idealistic phase myself until real life beat most of it out of me. I think the issue is that there's too much mollycoddling from a young age and also a silly situation where the likes of Universities are caving in to silly demands instead of directly challenging them for fear of "triggering" the little lambs.

I don't think you can demonise all young people because I'm sure the trigglypuffs are a minority. It just doesn't seem like it because they shout so loud.

Not wanting to "trigger" people by exhibiting downright inconsiderate behaviour is just called not being an arse or just good manners. I don't like all this "micro-aggression" terminology and oversensitivity, though. As others have said, offence is taken, not given.

Tbf, the amount of debt young folk have to rack up these days to pay their way through uni its hardly surprising that the result is the organisatioms pandering to people, thats capitalism for ya

Oh no I get that its just this may wrll be the first time the "youth of today" can actually turn around and twist the old "back in my day we had to...." line.
