Was in the middle of a game and it switched itself off. Now won't switch on. Have unplugged it and tried again. There seems to be some power flowing, but won't boot up. The old corsair power supply is quite/very old. Seems like a good shout?

Full spec?

But to test if you can get it to post - run a skeleton setup:
  • CPU
  • 1 stick memroy (try different sticks/slots if necessary)
  • gfx (onboard gfx if available)
Clear CMOS - if you can get into the BIOS. Reapply your BIOS settings (no clocks if you had them) and then start adding things again until it buckles...

Yes, overclocked.

I7 4770k
AMD 295X2
Corsair 850W (must be nearly 10 years old now)

I will try a bios reset.

How does this i7 hold up in games these days?

Great coupled with a decent GPU.

CMOS reset is the best starting point but if you don't get any joy run the skeleton setup.

Hopefully your clock has hiccuped the system and clearing CMOS will resolve it. It may be you need to throw a few more volts at the CPU to hold your clock if it's been a while or perhaps drop it by 100 MHZ or so.

Just tried it - worked :D

Thanks for the idea, just saved me some cash. Hadn't even thought of the bios reset. Has been a while since I dabbled in this stuff.
