Labour (under Corbyn); Social Democrats (left-wing authoritarian).

The Green Party; Democratic Socialists (left-wing libertarians).

The Liberal Democrats; Liberal/Progressive (right-wing libertarian).

Vote Lib Dem, get Labour? I can't think of anything less palatable. I get the impression the "progressive alliance" is an idea favoured by loyal Labour voters, left behind by the Corbyn era.

The Greens aren't liberal or libertarian in their social policies, they are just a different brand of authoritarian to labour, with different reasons and justifications for a large government with plenty of control over behaviour.

As the days go by and May consistently comes out with things that make her and the UK look like fools is she really the person we want to lead these negotiations(or front them) and lead the county.

Anyone from the 98% of normal humans who votes Conservative is voting against their own personal interest... please explain to me how quite so many people are so easily duped into voting against themselves.

Polls like this make me want to leave this forum again... but on the other hand... maybe one of you Cons voters can give me an actual insight into your reasoning past the attacks that are sure to ensue following this post.

Help me understand you.
You won't get many people answering this one. For most Conservative voters it's a dirty little secret, hardly anyone would ever admit to voting Tory. In general it means they don't give a **** about anyone else.

It's a very inconsistent message coming from May and the Tories, one minute its all about 'keeping the special relationship with our important neighbours' the next it's 'I'm going to be a bloody difficult woman'

It's almost like she's saying whatever people want to hear to get thier vote....

Wonder how all this is going to play out in tomorrow's local elections? I live in an area that is voting tomorrow and can safely say that the general election will make no difference to how I will vote and the result probably won't make a difference to the way I vote in the general. Will other people understand that tomorrow isn't the general election? Will there be a larger than normal turnout because people think it is the general election? Will this affect turnout on June 6th? What happens if there's a Tory landslide in the locals? Could that affect voting in the general?

The irony in all of this is the UK is more likely to stand united now in hating the Tories, than for any other reason over the last decade.

My local Tory MP is standing on trying to keep the local hospital open which is penciled for closing under the "Tory" restructuring plans. When I questioned him over the fact that it only at risk due to a Tory policy his come back was that Labour started all of this under Blair and he total disagrees with the local hospital closure and he will fight it passionately to stop it closing. I then asked him as what he thought as a young fresh backbencher MP that he could do to get the leaders of the Tory party to change their mind. He wasnt sure apart from keep fighting.

Yet people are still lapping it up. Lots of local Tory voters are all getting behind him on the basis he wants to save our local hospital when the truth lies in the fact that if you vote Tory then you will be guaranteeing its closure.

Jesus this post is utterly sanctimonious, i vote Conservative because overall, taking all tax cuts and raises into account, i have benefited significantly in my take home pay over the years. End of

So they bought your vote and you vote purely on who gives you the most money rather than who will be best for the country? Selfish much?

I never really understand this type of attitude. it is to not right then to vote for what is best for your own and families circumstances or should it be an exercise to fight for others?

It is quite likely that a vote purely for something which makes your personally better off wont end up being what is better for you and your family in the long run. Otherwise it would be dead easy to win every election by just giving massive tax cuts funded by huge borrowing which in the short term will be great for the individual but in the long run would destroy the economy which then later might result in the loss of your job/business and certainly if you have children will mean they will pay the price when they get older.

This is why the old can be so easily bought. They aren't going to live long enough to see any negative affects so they are purely voting based on who gives them the most money/least tax.

I think a degree of common-sense would dictate, from voting perspective, between utter codswallop as opposed to a set of policies which met the middle-ground. Those differing set of policies would favour certain circumstances over others. I agree insular thought and short-sightedness is rife but equally your vote should reflect something akin to what suits your circumstances and which may also align with the greater good; in whatever guise that may come in.
