The nervous wait to exchange....

Was told that i should get a mortgage offer on Tuesday, then our broker said the bank is behind schedule and it would be today. Then today the broker said they are behind schedule again and it will be on Tuesday. Ahhhhh the wait is excruciating. AIP was received 7th March.

Finally got an answer in the road question from a couple of posts up, 4 weeks later.

Still waiting for other queries.... ho hum.

I hope our saga is finally drawing to a close, after the resulting fall out from the previous subsidence claim had been sorted our buyers mortgage offer had expired and needed to be renewed, another 2 months of waiting.
Exchange now set for 18th and move on 21st although solicitors have already started drawing money down today.

Had an offer accepted yesterday so have sent off id to the estate agents for the memorandum of sale and instructed our solicitor to start the ball moving. How exciting! Really hope it all goes painlessly! Our lender wouldn't actually give us a mortgage in principle but advised that going by the figures, it wont be a problem (springboard)

I wont let myself get too drawn in until at least we've had the meeting with the lender and they have officially said the moneys there. Any advice for a first timer?

Hopefully exchanging contracts next week with a view to completing just before the end of the month.

Fortunately for me, my father was a solicitor and did conveyancing many years ago. Even with his help it's been stressful.

I don't know if it's politics or just people being stupid but we've had no end of issues with the buyer's solicitors return forms over and over again.

Example -

Have the communal areas been decorated in the last five years? (Gives options for yes/no) We tick no.

If so what work was carried out. We leave it blank for obvious reasons.

Buyers solicitor - You didn't answer part B.

FFS!!

-------------------------------------

Have you had a radon gas test carried out in the last 10 years? (Gives options for yes/no) We tick no.

If so can you supply results?

Buyers solicitor - You didn't answer part B.

WTF!!

Just put N/A in the box. Frustrating and clearly obvious but to anyone with sense but imagine how annoying it can get if someone misses an answer completely and the whole move is delayed by a month because of that.

We DID put N/A in the box(es).

He/She couldn't comprehend that if something hasn't happened you can't enter dates, details about a non-entity.

Its a shame you can't choose your sellers solicitor. Would certainly speed things up and let the incompetent firms know how bad they are.

Finally exchanged 24 hours later than agreed, after 6 months of messing about from both buyer and seller.

Movers booked and most stuff is now packed, some cleaning to sort and a trailer of car parts to load up tonight!

A little weird to think this will be the last night we have in the current house.

We're still waiting..

The buyer, a very VERY laid back lady in her 70's, has informed her solicitor that we (the sellers) are in no rush. We've said nothing of the sort. All along we've stated we need to complete by the end of next week.

It's getting infuriating now :(

Our buyer, who was driving the process from the outset and very vocal about wanting to be in to the point of even coming round to "check how it was going", seemed to be dragging their heels the past month. I wonder if they were exploring other options. The people we are buying off were the total opposite, being slow and disorganised for the entire length of the process.

I hope it comes through for you, it is very frustrating!

STILL waiting!!

We were meant to exchange last week and complete yesterday. Buyers son (must be in his 50's and still living at home) doesn't want to move until the end of May so mummy's solicitors are stalling for time.

We're buying a new build. Fortunately, they're being great and really patient. However, everyone has a breaking point. Hopefully we can exchange next week with a view to completing in two weeks time.

It shouldn't have to be this difficult!

Offer accepted on a house im buying two months ago, I recieved the mortgage offer about a week and half ago. Just going through searches now with solicitor, but there is a chain involved it's probably going to be another couple of months I'd imagine, such a long process!

My buyers solicitor conveyancing executive is still dragging her feet and refusing to speak to my solicitor directly.

Now she's gone on holiday for a week and not left an alternative contact. Fortunately, we managed to get the name of one of her colleagues and he's done more in the last 24 hours than she did in the last 24 days!!

Here's hoping she stays on holiday.

We're about 3 days in now, just waiting to here if the seller we're buying from has had her offer accepted on an empty house. 1st time buyers at our end of the chain, so hopefully should relatively painless.

:( the sale of ours just fell through.
Absolutely gutted we were booked to go and reserve a plot on a new estate tomorrow at 11am.

The buyer got rejected for his mortgage despite obtaining a mortgage in principle, turns out he's self employed.

The worst part is, once the two currently available plots are gone, the development moves off to the other end of the estate which we really dislike.

Looks like we're gonna have to sell and then rent now until another property comes up as don't want to rush into anything.
