New Ryzen Build

Money saving ideas mainly:

Are you going for a maximum clock or sli? if not the Gigabyte gaming b350 boards are very capable - a few less features but still do the job for considerably less money

Neither of the memory you have selected will run at 3200 - so you could save money again by dropping them to 3000 kits - running at 2933MHz (although some people have had success with the 3600 kits of the Team Group Dark Pro running at 3200 from forum banter).

Also you could easily run that spec with a quality 650W/750W (covering GTX 1080ti usage) - and again save considerable pounds.

Are you thinking of crossfire/sli?

An example basket - but if you feel you need the x370 then you should look into the 3600Mhz Team Group Dark Pro - but the 650w would still be a worthwhile saving if using a single card solution.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £743.05
(includes shipping: £11.10)

Potential saving of ~£220 and similar/same performance if going for a moderate clock.

Below is the s ame build as above with a 750W PSU - if you're a little uncomfortable about powering your 1080ti with 650W - but it wouldn't be a problem:

Total: £750.05

Thanks for the info,

Possible SLI but single 1080ti for the moment, mainly used for VR so may add another 1080ti at later stage.

NP.

If you're considering sli then the X370 obviously makes sense - you may want to take a look at this thread for memory suggestions.

In that thread i linked to somebody posted at 12.30 and has luck with Team Group Xtreem T-Force 3600Mhz an an Asus C6H - you may want to take a look and perhaps amend your order.

Perhaps a post in the OCuK Customers Service forum and check if the batch is all the same - as it can be very hit and miss.

That is the memory I ordered, along with some Team Group 3000 memory, hopefully at least one set will get me going :D

Thought the Corsair 3200 runs at that speed? When I was thinking of going Ryzen the B350 Tomahawks compatibility list indicated it does. But alas cooler master did not bring out a bracket for my Nepton so I scrapped that plan.

You could be right - it depends on the batch/board/chipset - very hit and miss - i'm getting info from forums and info varys/contradicts depending on where/when memory was bought (different memory used on different batches). But with the May DDR4 update compatibility should hopefully improve again.

I did read people having success with the Corsair 3200 using the profiles, but I think it varies across boards and bios releases, if either of the memory I have ordered doesnt work I will grab some of this instead.

Yeah, it's hit and miss as mentioned - but the stuff you ordered was a recent success in your board so hopefully same batch/luck. (Certain G-Skill sets seem to be the memory to get for consistency.)

OcUK can be very good at giving you an idea of what may work best (but won't guarantee obviously) - the Customer Service Forum Pre Order Queries can be very useful.

Bu the May update could make lots of people happy...
