Madeleine McCann investigation 'cost £10 million to date'

Will watch that later when at home but I agree with wanting an answer to that question. Who did they know that protected them? Why were they protected?

At the very least it's common knowledge that they left kids, who were most likely given something to enhance their sleep, whilst going out and only checking on them every half hour.

Surely there's a case for them being at fault for the 'abduction' at the very least? Negligence? Manslaughter? Murder?

Not sure if anyone watched the Sky News program on Madeline last night. Basically one of the top scotland yard detectives who was brought into the case was told what he could and couldn't do.
I believe one of the things he couldn't do (and by that, I mean not even think about) was going after the mccanns.

If she is genuinely still alive then I think its safe to draw the line by now that she is either happy living where she is or has no memory now of her biological parents.

I would have thought she was just old enough at the time of her disappearance for her to have formed enough of an imprint of her past life, infact a lot of speculation says that one of the twins would have been a better target in that regard. It's therefore less likely that she is going to be living anything close to a normal life with another family, even in another country because of just how well known the case is.

If she is still alive, I would have thought it's more likely that the poor girl is being kept in a slavery kind of situation. Be that the case, hopefully one day she gets free.

I watched it, and also the BBC Panorama documentary, which interviewed most of the same people and was the better programme I thought. One of the chief UK investigators on that stated that he was initially wary of Gerry and that you had to look at all options, but ultimately it became very clear that the notion of two doctors on holiday, hiding the death of their daughter where they had limited resources and local knowledge and the media watching was ridiculous, along with no evidence to find them culpable of that.

Watch this video on body language. TED pretty reputable.

hmmm... I just watched the first few seconds ' trained lie spotters get to the truth 90% of the time'. Not bothered wasting my time with the rest.

Bold claim but. What on earth does that even mean and how has it been tested? It sounds like complete and utter ****, if you could really do that then surely every police force in the world would want to know about these secrets?

It's like a scam ad - Click here to learn the one weird trick to detect lies!

Granted, it's true that being able to detect lies even 90% of the time wouldn't be enough in a legal context. People often lie to the police and the police often know they're being lied to. That doesn't necessarily help the police prove it. Even so, it would be extremely useful for any police force to be able to detect lies with that degree of reliability. It would save them a lot of work.

Which, of course, is the explanation! It's a global conspiracy by police to keep them in jobs! It's "obvious".

I find their need to still be in the public eye after all this time to be a bit disturbing. It doesn't serve any useful purpose as regards the investigation.
