Driving a Tank tomorrow. Any Tips?

from what I remember they are very easy, just 1 back/forward lever for each track

both forward to go straight ahead and then one more forward than other to turn

Tracked military vehicles are usually easy. IIRC, the H-licence training is only a one-day course... which reminds me, I really need to get mine.

From memory (over 20 years since I last did this in an FV432):
Most Brit ones are auto/semiauto gearbox. You pick the gear ratio you want, press throttle pedal down with your toe and then move twin levers forward to engage drive and get going. The further forward you move the levers, the more power to that track. To turn left, pull back on the left lever and vice-versa.
Throttle pedal is not sprung , being more like a rocker pedal, so press with your heel to pivot it back and drop the revs, as well as pulling back on both levers to disengage the drive.

There is a brake pedal too, but with this and all controls, the trick is to be smooth. You do NOT want to stomp hard on the brakes in this thing, as you'll nut solid, armoured steel!
You also want to watch your speed, as you'll likely be driving on some very bumpy off-road route and bouncing around inside this can be very jarring.

Hopefully you'll get to try driving with the hatch down, looking through the prisms. That is weird as heck and scary as hell, with the limited vision. You should also have an instructor/supervisor sat in the Commander's seat, giving you directions over the headset. Pay very close attention to what he tells you!!

I reckon you'll absolutely love this!

Holy Moses, never seen that before. Now I know where GTA came from..

You seen this? Quite an inferesting story. The guy basically got in to this dozer with no intention of ever leaving it alive.

Link that sounds ace mate, have a good day :D

Somewhere along the A34, not at Bovington no.

Tanks-a-lot?

They're supposedly good guys there and a great laugh.

They were the chaps that recently found a load of gold bars in a tank they bought; (sorry about the sun link!)

Tank turned out to be stolen though so believe they're going through the motions of sorting that mess out :(

edit: Sorry I was thinking of the road just off the A43 not the A34 :D
