Faulty GTX 980 ti

What brand of 980ti?

Does it show the BIOS fine then go weird when it get's to Windows? If so could be drivers, if not then looks dead lol.
Hmm my 980ti has just started doing this on cold boots, after the bios flash and the 1st windows flash, a reset and everything is rock solid. Are we thinking gfx drivers...motherboard - something else??

Usually when you see lines like that after installing the drivers it's because the solder in the BGA has failed. That or your memory is screwed. There are only two ways to fix it. Reflow the card and hope for the best (you can do this crudely using your oven but it never lasts) or remove the GPU core, solder wick all of the solder off then a reball. There aren't many people out there equipped to do the latter so a reflow is probably your best shot. Do note though, the reflow will degrade the solder even more not replace it and that's why it usually never lasts.

In future I would suggest listening to a few of the chaps here. When some one sells something as "untested m8" it usually means it is screwed or did not work for them hence them using that excuse. But yeah, I would believe that as much as I believe "Intel K series CPU for sale. Never overclocked, honestly guv"

Updated to the newest nvidia driver (from the one before) 2 cold boots, no problems

Give this a try, could be a corrupt or bad bios flash:

Leave the card installed but go in to your mobo bios and set primary display to igpu, switch the cable over to the igpu hdmi out for the time being.

Then go here and download the bios for your card https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/

Then download maxwell bios tweaker with nvflash and follow these instructions.

Edit: Don't bake it in the oven, that theory is BS.

Don't bake it in an oven you plan to use for cooking again either. The baking releases harmful fumes and chemicals that you shouldn't have your food in after.
